Was googling around and found this interesting article on a visit to Trona Pinacles, where some early external film was shot inthe original Lost in Space:

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.promisedplanet.com/Jupiter2000/images/Bp1-11d.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.promisedplanet.com/Jupiter2000/TronaPinnacles.htm&h=374&w=500&sz=30&tbnid=LPzD_yUSJ7IJ:&tbnh=94&tbnw=125&start=70&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dlost%2Bin%2Bspace%26start%3D60%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26sa%3DN

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Enjoyed seeing that site. Excellent photos of LIS geography. Terrain still seems alien after all these years since LIS aired. LIS TV series available on DVD now. As a child, I recall seeing Bell jet pack demonstrated at local shopping mall as a promo for the series. Very loud, very brief flight. Jet pack can now travel 30 seconds, back then 20 seconds was maximum flight time. Think sci-fi channel ran 'lost' footage of Prof. Robinson fighting giant cyclops while flying jet pack a couple of years ago. Heady stuff for 1964. Appreciate the post very much!

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

I went to the site and enjoyed looking at the pictures and reading the material. Looks like something I'd like to see for myself one day...

Interesting. Would certainly be a better place to visit than many former Dr.Who locations. That would require you to take a holiday to Wales and tour all their quarries.

Wow, this is one of those delayed feedbanck on a post cases.

Some months ago, I found a site related to a business run by the son of Guy Williams. It was a computer graphics firm, and had some neat LIS art. I sent him an email telling him that his father was quite an inspiration to me. I didn't hear anything for several months, and I figured he had probably thought I was a loser or something, but then I got a nice thank-you email. It was nice.

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

How about calling that weird spot on Enceladus (that Cassini hasn't photographed yet) Trona Regio? Kind of an homage to sixties sci-fi. It would be a nice gesture.

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

All one has to do is submit a name to the International Astronomical Union (IAU) for consideration.
