Also....it was damn convienient that it flew right between all of the little text boxes like that. Seems mighty fortunate.

Interesting. There is not enough information to say anything other than, I cannot identify that object though. Any background on this, or more information?

is the way it changed direction odd? ie: not following an orbital path. Or is that an optical illusion of sorts caused by the layout and panoramic of the frames?

Assumption is the mother of all stuff ups

Gimme some Schmack Schmack!

I think a bug would not be visible or enough focused on the scope.
My bet is that it is a fake built with some video editing software.

I think it is a balloon. A weather balloon is not likely as it would appear larger than this one. This object is about 1/100 the width of the moon, or about .005 degree. An 8 foot diameter weather balloon would have to be at 90,000 feet to appear this big. But at that altitude, it would be about 30 feet in diameter due to the lower pressure.

Weather balloons are released at 0000 and 1200 GMT. In Italy there would have been one at 1 PM and not another until 1 AM. This one was seen at 10:52 PM.

I would suggest a party balloon of maybe 2 foot diameter at 20,000 feet.

As the balloon rises, it moves into a layer of air moving a different direction, thus its direction change.

The boxes were put there FOR the UFO, not before. There is nothing convenient about it.

-pyoko the duck

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

Is this footage from one of the missions, or it is from an earth telescope? If it's from Earth, then this is nothing interesting, because a UFO over the moon that size yould be too huge to believe. If it's from Earth, then it could be any junk or a plastic bag or something.

-pyoko the duck

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

It appears to be from a ground-based telescope.
I put on my robe and wizard hat...

In reply to:

I would suggest a party balloon of maybe 2 foot diameter at 20,000 feet.

I was extremely excited about this when I first saw it a while ago. Disappointingly though after I dug around I found that it has a pretty mundane explanation (you guessed about right). Here's an email from the astronomer who took the video to a member at the ATS forums:

the object only "apparently" changes its path: we can see the change of path if we do not consider that the focus was on the Moon. But, since the Moon was/is NOT still, and the focus was on the Moon, the apparent result is similar to the one of an object which changes path. The object NEVER changed its path: just a few times changed its speed. We debated it some time ago: at the discussion partecipated even the French scientist who discovered one of the newest moons of Saturn: after the discussion and the scientific analysis of the technical data, we assested that it was most likely a balloon which diameter was between 11 and 15 inches, at an altitude of approx 4 miles.
You probably downloaded the excel file in which the data about the subtraction of the movement of the moon is missing.

Link (the quoted email is near the bottom of the page)

Here's a link for the original zip file. It has a large excel spread sheet with data about the object plus a better resolution version of the video.

Actually, if you think about it, from a lens on the surface, the focus of a 10 mile away object is the same as one at 250,000 miles.

It's infinity.

A lens's focus only makes a substantial difference within a mile or so, after that it's all infinity.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Yep that's like saying the Moon would be out of focus if you're loking at the Sun lol.

-pyoko the duck

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

In looking at the responses here...the only certainty is that it is indeed...a UFO over the moon.

My borrowed quote for the time being:

There are three kinds of people in life. Those who make it happen, those who watch it happen...and those who do not know what happened.

I guess now the only question remaining is, who's driving it?

You wanna talk some jive? I'll talk some jive. I'll talk some jive like you've never heard!

Yeah, well lets just pretend it was the latter. Who do you guys think was driving it? My top 3 guesses:

1. Tom Cruise
2. Bigfoot
3. A ghost

You wanna talk some jive? I'll talk some jive. I'll talk some jive like you've never heard!
