What was the worst sequel (prequel) ever made? I listed Star Wars and Matrix because those too were the worst let downs to me.......................

1st would be Matrix
2nd Star Wars ( damn you jar jar)
3rd Godfather 3

The Matrix had an exponential decay - the first movie was great, the second was OK, the last one stank, horribly - all of course IMHO. ;)

Star Wars, hands down. Why? Because they didn't butcher just one movie like The Matrix Revolution or Godfather III, they butchered all 3 of them. Jar Jar Binks was an absolutely stupid idea to put in the movie. Second, they killed off Darth Maul who was one of the most bad ass villains ever. The last movie was just ridiculous, especially the part where Anakin joined the Dark Side. The conversation between he and the Emperor pretty much went like this:

E: You know, if you join the Dark side you'll be able to cure Padamay.

Anakin: Really? I'm in.

What the hell? He doesn't even question this guy. The Jedi have taught him how to obtain all these incredible powers and he just pisses it all away because someone SAYS they can do something and he doesn't even question it? LAME!

The new Indiana Jones movie was pretty crappy too...

OK, where does the 'Alien' series fall then ?

Alien - Great !
Aliens - Great !! (amazing for a sequel)
Alien 3 - WTH ?!?!?
Alien Resurrection - Oh man, someone put a bullet to good use and kill this series

And I'm not including the Predator mixes. I'm not sure where, other than in the incinerator, they belong.

Alien - One of the best sci-fi suspense thrillers ever made.
Aliens - One of the best sci-fi action movies ever made.
Alien3 - One of the worst sequels to a sci-fi blockbuster ever made.
Alien Resurrection - One of the best sci-fi one-take basketball shots ever captured on film.

The worst sequels were the Matrix ones, as the first was really pretty good and we had no clues as to the decline that was to come. The same cannot be said to be true for the Star Wars sequels, as we sorta knew what we were in for with the cantena scene and the Jawas, and by the time we got to the Ewoks we knew the score! ;)

I guess you could throw the Terminator movies in there as well. 3 wasn't that great but it would be damned hard to beat 2. I just didn't get why the new villain was part machine part liquid metal. I'd think that T-1000 was about as good as it could get. Just send two of them back in time instead of one. Still i guess not one of the worst considering the other 3 movies presented. We'll see how the new series does...

I didn't really like Matrix Revolutions, although i only really saw it once. However, once you really look into the plot and read up on it, they did do a fairly good job with it.

Stars Wars I, II, III; Matrix 3; every Trek movie after 'Search for Spock'; every 'Next Generation Star Trek' ever made; Terminator 3; Alien 3 and Resurrection, ALL SUCKED HORRIBLY AND WE SHOULD DEMAND OUR MONEY BACK!

George Lucas has unequivically, undoubtedly, absolutely lost his already rattled mind!! I saw an interview with him where he says: "We hope to get the next and final installations, ie, Star Wars Episodes VII, VIII, and IX out starting with VII around 2029, and the others will follow in succession..." 2029? Does that sound like a guy hyper-driving with all six motivators? The pompous ass seems to think he's going to live forever. But even if he does, his creativity is obviously decayed and dead already!

I have long suspected that he NEVER wrote how Darth Vader and everything else in the setting for the story in the original came about. Only years later, because of popular demand and the chance to make bukoos more cash, did he try to write the prequels. And he did a sorry job of explaining the origins.

So hands down, IMO, the Star Wars prequel/sequels are the worst and most offensively lame ever made!! Horrible writing and storytelling out matched only by even worse acting and direction!

Obi-Wan- Darth Sidious has deceived you!

Aniken- You're just jealous of 'my power'.

Exactly, the story of Darth Vader sucked! He massacred a tribe of Sandpeople in revenge of his mom and then killed all the kids in the Jedi academy. Wow, what an all powerful Jedi! Lucas is seriously talking about 3 more sequels? 2029? What the hell is he waiting for? I've read some Star Wars books that take place after Return of the Jedi and they're pretty good. It should be that hard to find a damned story line. Hell, they're beeter than anything that is gonna come out of Lucas at this point!

There is no question in my mind about this. The Matrix sequels were absolute garbage. The first movie was awesome! The second movie kinda sucked, but the third... what a terrible piece of trash. Matrix used to be one of my favorite movies, if they would never had made the second and third movies, it still could have been.

I am frequently of a "split personality" with respect to sequels. Part of me says, "You told a good story, move
on, if you try to add to it, you'll just mess it up". Part of me loves the characters and wants to see them again
and again.

When the first Matrix was made............I was hooked. They kent saying the last human city......ZION. I honestly thought zion would be technecally advanced with the greatest weapons around..........so when they finaaly showed ZION in the sequels..............I could believe my eyes............no its cave people..........jumping around and dancing? Was this all that was left of the last free humans?

I thought the second Matrix was good, not great like the first one, but defintely good. The third one was just not fun to watch at all. As a matter of fact, i think the worst part about teh sequels was Zion. Anything that happened in Zion was just a boring part of the movie. The other thing that irked me was all of the computer animation. There are so many parts where Neo or Smith are completely computer animated. I do think it is sort of cool though how the Architecht sort of laughs off Neo's guess that the Oracle is a big player in the whole scheme of thigns, and then it turns out she was the biggest player of them all. Sort of sucked the first lady playing the Oracle died before the last movie...

"Sort of sucked the first lady playing the Oracle died before the last movie..."

The explanation that they brought out - that the previous "instance" of the Oracle was
supposedly done in by the Merv fits with the notion of her being less powerful.

I liked the first Oracle better than the second, she had more of a - presence that fit
with the character - to me anyway.
