Question When does the greatest orbital perturbations of a geostationary satellite occur?

When does the greatest orbital perturbations of a geostationary satellite occur? Is it at the solstices or at the equinoxes? Comparing a single orbit and not averages.

I am asking for information/data based on direct observations not mathematical predictions, especially predictions based on harmonic solutions.

Raw data from observations are at the core of the scientific method.

In the 1960’s the Two-line element set for orbital parameters was pushing computers (depending on how fast you cranked them😊) to their limits.

A modern computer can compare direct orbital measurements (made at one second intervals over an entire day) with theoretical predictions and kick out the deviation in 10 seconds. This would be the direct one pass perturbation that harmonic solutions smear across time.

This also suggests that the Harmonic solution can be replaced with the far more precise single pass perturbation. Why have imprecise orbit predictions when the computing power for higher accuracy is easily available?

The lunar perturbation of clocks and gravitational fields is actually greater than what I am looking for. I am looking for the what is called the S2 perturbation in its raw state (before being turned into a harmonic).

This S2 term shows up as a curious residual after removing the lunar and solar terms. I have a model that suggests that the S2 will perturb geostationary orbits more during solstices than during equinoxes. I need raw data or observations to verify that hypothesis.

Harmonic solutions cannot be reversed to reveal the detailed nature of the perturbation. Harmonic solutions could be viewed as encrypting the properties of a perturbation by breaking it into pieces and then scattering those pieces across the time domain.

The greatest distortion during an orbit occurs when a satellite crosses one of the Earth’s Inertial Poles where the time distortion is the greatest. Those hundreds of harmonic terms published for the perturbations hide about ten (or less) non-linear orbital terms (outside of Kepler). GR has absolutely no relevance to these phenomena.

The Empire converts (encrypts) secret physical orbital phenomena into hundreds of harmonics to hide secret physics.

Can you get the detailed propellant consumption for a satellite? Whenever an easily available fact is a state secret don’t waste time looking for a motive. You will just draw attention.

Catastrophe

"Science begets knowledge, opinion ignorance.
"Can you get the detailed propellant consumption for a satellite? "

That is an interesting point. As the propellant is used up the mass decreases - so does gravitational attraction. So does the satellite move outwards?

When the greatest perturbations occur coincide with propellant use. When the orbits cross or move closer to the inertial poles propellant use would increase. A detailed propellant report would show that the perturbations were in particular regions of space unrelated to the Moon or the Earth's oblateness. One of the hundreds of details the Empire would hide.

In a geo-synchronous orbit for say satellite TV the orbit has to stay within a narrow range or your fixed TV antenna won’t see it.

During parts of the year that geo-synchronous orbit will encounter one of the Earth’s inertial poles which would rapidly perturb the orbit. The Lunar term is stronger but it is also more random since the Moon’s position changes relative to the geo-synchronous orbit.

Since the geo-synchronous orbit crosses the Earth’s solar orbital inertial pole, that particular orbital perturbation occurs regularly and it spaced 6 months apart. (Summer and Winter, I think).

If perturbation theory were not partially fictional there should be no history of propellant consumption indicating a 6 month inertial field term.

The greater the period of perturbation (or temporal distortion) the greater the consumption of propellant for satellite station keeping.

Published perturbation theory would say one thing and the secret propellant fuel consumption history for satellite station keeping would tell a slightly different story.

In astronomy, perturbation is the complex motion of a massive body subject to forces other than the gravitational attraction of a single other massive body. The other forces can include a third body, resistance, as from an atmosphere, and the off-center attraction of an oblate or otherwise misshapen body.
