i brought a "Celestron Powerseeker 675 Reflector " from argos in the uk, theres a lot of negative reviews regarding this telescope so im wondering if i am missing out on what i could see with a better device. im on a budget as we are in the process of moving from a city (bristol) to a semi rural area. my question is would i be better saving for a new telescope or would buying better lenses improve my viewing?

Save for a new (better) scope.

That's a 114mm reflector beginner scope (US equivalent is http://www.celestron.com/c2/product.php?CatID=5&ProdID=6 ) (UK scope is http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5803680.htm ) (last I heard dollar to pound was $2 to L1 so they are charging quite a bit for that scope)

Once you get out of the city you will see much more with that scope anyway so you have lots of time to save money.

www.siriuslookers.org

Don't buy a telescope from Argos! Especially when they start giving the f'ing magnification powers that are way too high for the 'scope - quite frankly if you get good views at 250x I'd be best pleased. Rule of thumb is 60x per inch of aperture but you'd need exceptional seeing conditions for that!!

Even if it is a Celestron!

You want a retailer who knows about 'scopes and who will store them properly.

I bought my Celestron from David Hynds Ltd earlier this year - http://www.celestron.uk.com/
