The above speaks to our huge potential of colonizing our solar system with a vast spread of life in manmade city-states and other custom made stations and facilitations in space. But think about our finally solving the problem of relativity and reaching beyond the solar system one day.
There may be Earth-like to near Earth-like worlds numbering in the millions in our Milky Way galaxy of hundreds of billions of stars and space materials systems alone. Science fiction buffs and other visionaries have looked almost exclusively to intelligent beings going after the Earth-like planets alone. But I envision those other hundreds of billions of star systems -- without Earth-like planets -- also being open to space colonization by life because of the potential of space colonies and life going for the far vaster resource of accessible materials to life than the potential few million, if anything like that really, already existing Earth-like planets!
Through space colonization, just about every star system in the galaxy, in every galaxy, becomes colonizable by life!
The infinities of universes and materials resources will always out stretch the potential infinity of life, so there will always be the New Frontier to be reached and opened to terraforming by life, one way or another!
