Replying to:

Not sure what you are asking. If you mean can there be other universes formed from other big bangs - sure. Since we 'can't get out of our universe' to see it will probably never be proved but there certainly is nothing to prevent it that I know of.If you mean can another big ban happen in THIS universe I would think not. The big bang is not like an explosion it is the expansion of space every where, not something eminating from a point. So I don't see how it could happen. And welcome to the forum!
Posted by origin

I like Schmack's idea that it is still occuring!

Imagine if you were a lifeform living in the universe just a few minutes after the big bang began (even though there were no stars or planets, but lets forget about that for now). The 3-minute-old universe would seem just as inifinitely big as it is today, because the universe, to the best of our knowledge, represents all of existence. So, even if the universe (just a few minutes after inflation began) was smaller than it is today, as an observer in the 3-minute-old universe, you would have no way of refrencing it's exact size, it would still appear to be boundless, just as it is today (as Einstein described it).

With that being said, if you could hypothetically pause the expansion of our universe right now, zoom out so that our entire universe can be seen in a single point, then unpaused the expansion, you would watch a universe expand into something larger from what seemed like a single point. However, since we zoomed out, we know that the universe was much larger than a single point, yet from a distant viepoint, it made it appear as though it was a new big bang happening all over again.

This is my take on how the big bang is still happening. Did I lose anyone in that explanation?
