I find the Lovelock Gaia concept reassuring. The Darwin tree of life goes as far back as we can discern it - and yet it is a small episode in the traceable history of the universe from which all has co-emergered and we, as sentient creatures find ourselves on a/the surface and having this conversation. How can AI/or whatever have that context?
