onesmallstep, all governments have to keep secrets. It creates uncertainty in potential opponents. That uncertainty can prevent an attack... kind of like not running through a pitch-black room without a flashlight.

With regards to UFO's specifically, if a UFO report was actually a sighting of an experimental aircraft that isn't planned to deploy for years, the program itself is much more important than the citizens right to know about it.

Sermo datur cuntis; animi sapientia paucis

Speech is given to many; intelligence to few

Re: Clark C. McClelland, former ScO, Space Shuttle Fleet, claims

I recently visited KSC for the 40th Anniversary of Apollo 11 and Mr McClelland was behind me, waiting in line at the ticket booth. I got talking to him, but interestingly he never once mentioned his sightings, despite having strong feelings regarding towards other issues. He showed me pictures of some of his friends, who were unfortunate victims of the Challenger disaster in 1986. I must say that he was a nice, genuine person and he was great with my 5 year old daughter. I was surprised to learn of his claims and it is very interesting, to say the least, reading some of your comments.

Re: Clark C. McClelland, former ScO, Space Shuttle Fleet, claims

Talk about a blast from the past. I wasn't out here last summer and no I don't believe that E.T. was hangin' with the spacewalking astronauts. Why didn't they just overpower the little sucker and bring him home? E.T. can survive in the vacuum of space? Also, Mission Control Houston monitors the shuttle missions. KSC's job is done when the shuttle achieves orbit.
