Im trying to find information on how companies like Boeing, lockheed Martin, Bigelow and SpaceX got started. What I want to do is start up an private aerospace/astronautics company but i dont know where to start Im just going to list these questions here if you can help me figure some of this out Id be very grateful.

-Where does funding come from
-How are these companies awarded contracts
-Where does the military/NASA announce their need for the development of new systems
-Aside from government contracts how do these companies make money
-Where exactly is the best place to start planning for this sort of company

thats all I have for now thanks again

Wikipedia would be a good starting point

Then the corporate websites they tend to like to boast about their history

As to the government contracts and funding, someone else may have to offer and opinion.

It depends on what kind of services and products you intend to create. Starting a company is easy - it's a little paperwork for a DBA or paperwork and some cash for starting an LLC. Contracts from the govt are usually sent out as an RFP (request for proposal) but you should have something demonstrated to qualify.
