McCoy was the perfect counterpoint to both. As we said back in the early '70s, "Keep on Trekkin'!" Oh, there were some clips from the gunfight at O.K. Corral show. I saw an interview with Star Trek photographer Jerry Finnerman on Youtube recently, part of an oral history series, and he cited that episode as some of his best work, in regards to the blood-red sky, something I had missed after decades, but on watching that one again it's really eerie. :?

I just watched that episode a couple of nights ago (I got the enhanced version DVD collection of the 3rd season for Mother's Day). That would be tricky to get the lighting right with everything bathed in red. Like you, I hadn't recognized that aspect of the episode until reading your post.
