Hello all...

I have recently been considering returning to school via an online capacity, and I have stumbled across a school named "American Public University." http://www.apu.apus.edu/index.htm This school offers a BA degree in "Space Studies," and it's entirely online.

To me this sounds great. I love the space sciences, astronomy, physics, etc. This school is highly accredited, and seems to be a civilian twin to the "American Military University." http://www.amu.apus.edu/index.htm

My question is this: What kind of work can I do with this BA degree in Space Studies? I intend to pursue my Masters following, but I need to know if I can get a job with the BA (or even with my masters). What would I put on my resume? It mentions some Aeronautical Engineering, as well as some Astronomy, physics, as well as others; but it is very interdisciplinary. Does anyone think I could get an engineering position in some capacity, or even an entry level position at some respected organization?

This is the link to the BA, and then the Masters courses.

Big decision. Any information you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mac

A good way to get started with online college is through CourseAdvisor.com who can steer you to a wide range of good schools. Not fly by night - they're owned by The Washington Post newspaper company.

Also check with some of the established universities, colleges and community colleges in your area. A lot of them are offering online classes these days, and some full degrees. You might have to go in for exams, but their product is usually superior.

I started studying with a program like that, only it was not on-line, but the courses were held in a University as regular courses. Just outside of any degree program.

However, that put me on the right track and now I study full time in the University. I modelled my degree programme based on University of Dublin's degree program called Physics with Astronomy, a very inter-disciplinary program for B.Sc. in natural sciences combined with engineering courses. Included are chemistry, physics, math, bio-chemistry, IT, and astronomy.

I'm hoping to get my B.Sc. in Natural Sciences in about two years from University of Helsinki. I also had a look at the B.Sc. program linked and mentioned above, it seems a bit light on the subjects of chemistry, physics and math, but on the other hand seems to cover the subject of aerospace pretty well.
