China has carried out the ninth orbital launch of the year, by launching their Long March 2D carrying the Weixing-11 remote sensing satellite. The launch took place at 02:42UTC on Wednesday, lifting off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. Meanwhile, China has spoken about its near-term space flight goals.

...LM-2D is manufactured by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST). The development of LM-2D was started in Feb. 1990. Starting from 2002, to meet the demand of SSO satellites, the payload fairing of 3350mm in diameter and attitude control engine for second stage have been successfully developed; and the discharge of remaining propellant and de-orbit of the second stage have been realized.
LM-2D is mainly used for launching LEO and SSO satellites. It is mainly launched from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, and can be launched from China’s other satellite launch centers. It is characterized with high reliability, wide application and mature technology.

Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center (JSLC) (simplified Chinese: 酒泉卫星发射中心; traditional Chinese: 酒泉衛星發射中心; pinyin: Jiǔquán Wèixīng Fāshè Zhōngxīn) is a People's Republic of China space vehicle launch facility (spaceport) in the Gobi desert, Ejina Banner (额济纳旗), Alxa League (阿拉善盟), Inner Mongolia, located about 1,600 km from Beijing. It is located at 40°57′28″N 100°17′30″E / 40.95778°N 100.29167°E / 40.95778; 100.29167.
