I thought I'd start a thread for various videos and animations generated from the Mars Exploration Rovers, Mars Express and any other Mars mission images.

My latest contribution is a sequence from sol 400 to 600 for the Spirit Rover as it climbed the Columbia Hills from Larry's Lookout to the summit of Husband Hill. I used front and rear Hazcam images but added my own spin: I changed the aspect ratio and colorized the images and added some cool Canadian surf music by the group Vegas Beach along for the ride.

The video is on my homepage and my videos page. On the videos page you'll find the other Mars Rover videos I created plus some of my videos derived from Mars Express images.

Enjoy!
Aldo.

Here's a video for the Opportunity Rover from sol 400 to 600, covering the ground from Vostok Crater to Erebus Highway. Enjoy!

Thanks, Yurkin. More to come......I'm working on a colourized version of Opportunity digging out of Pergatory Dune.

Here are some cool QTVR animations of various Spirit and Opportunity panoramas:

http://www.panoramas.dk/mars.html

The second one dated Jan. 13, 2004, is almost completely immersive. You can even "float" over the landing pad!

Cheers,
Aldo.

Here are some rover videos posted by Michael Howard on his Mars Midnight Browser site.

http://homepage.mac.com/michaelhoward/MidnightMarsBrowser/movies.html

If you never heard of Mike's site, his Midnight Browser program is great! With it you'll be able to view rover images as slide shows, stereo anaglyphs, false colour, and mosaics for any sol you're interested in.

--Aldo--

I've created another video, this time using Opportunity rear Hazcam images up to sol 600, covering it's journey from Eagle Crater to the Erebus Highway. As there are far fewer rear Hazcam images than forward, the motion is jumpy, that there are some cool moments such as entering Endurance, approaching Burns Cliff and digging out of Purgatory Dune.

Hope you like it!

A little late, but I posted two videos celebrating one full Martian year for the two rovers. I used hazcam images from sol 1 to 669 from Spirit and Opportunity looking back(wards) on the year that was.

The links to the videos are on my home page.

Cheers,
Aldo.

Here's my latest Mars rover video: Spirit from sols 600 to 800, covering it's traverse from the Husband Hill summit to Comanche, El Dorado and Home Plate. To make the ride even more enjoyable I've added some cool surf music by the appropriately named Boss Martians.

Enjoy!

It's been some time since I did a Mars Express flyover video. I thought I'd get back in the groove by animating a perspective photo of Holden Crater, one of the favoured 2009 MSL landing sites. The view covers Uxboi Vallis, gullies, stepped terraces and an alluvial fan, all indicative that the crater was once filled with water.

Enjoy!
