Can anyone tell me if the helicopter they use at the beginning of the minority report is a NOTAR? Is it a helicopter at all? <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

I cant find any pictures of that breif moment in the beginning when cruise and his fellow officers were dropped into a park by a helicopter, across the street from multiple houses, to stop a murder.<br /><br /> Have to watch the movie again now.<img src="/images/icons/frown.gif" /> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <em>"<font color="#333399">An organism at war with itself is a doomed organism." - Carl Sagan</font></em> </div>

could you do that? I can't find any screen caps. I don't remember any blades moving , so wasn't sure if it was a chopper at all. It's supposed to be a NOTAR (no tail rotor) - which is only fitted on a few models of helicopter. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

That scene was definitely NOT a helicoptor -- NOTAR or otherwise. I recall the DVD special features (do you watch those?) including some where they talked about how they thought up all the vehicles. That vehicle was supposed to be supported like a Harrier, by its thrust. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <hr style="margin-top:0.5em;margin-bottom:0.5em" />Will Pittenger<hr style="margin-top:0.5em;margin-bottom:0.5em" />Add this user box to your Wikipedia User Page to show your support for the SDC forums: <div style="margin-left:1em">{{User:Will Pittenger/User Boxes/Space.com Account}}</div> </div>

<i>That vehicle was supposed to be supported like a Harrier, by its thrust.</i><br /><br />Yeah, the CGI people did a wonderful job at showing the air vents. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p> </p><p>***</p> </div>

<blockquote><font class="small">In reply to:</font><hr /><p>PDE's (pulse detonation engines)<p><hr /></p></p></blockquote><br />Same engines as used by the V-1? It was called the "buzz bomb" for a reason. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <hr style="margin-top:0.5em;margin-bottom:0.5em" />Will Pittenger<hr style="margin-top:0.5em;margin-bottom:0.5em" />Add this user box to your Wikipedia User Page to show your support for the SDC forums: <div style="margin-left:1em">{{User:Will Pittenger/User Boxes/Space.com Account}}</div> </div>

Then the craft in <i>Minority Report</i> can't use it. Its top speed is clearly subsonic. There is no way to get air in the engine moving that fast -- especially while hovering. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <hr style="margin-top:0.5em;margin-bottom:0.5em" />Will Pittenger<hr style="margin-top:0.5em;margin-bottom:0.5em" />Add this user box to your Wikipedia User Page to show your support for the SDC forums: <div style="margin-left:1em">{{User:Will Pittenger/User Boxes/Space.com Account}}</div> </div>
