Replying to:

Both channels have taken a huge dive in the quality of content. I am also getting real sick of the paranormal crap they constantly play on there. This constant ghost and UFO crap is ridiculous! Not to mention some of their reality shows. Ice Road Truckers? GAG! Extreme Logging? Give me a break! They are all cheap rip offs of Deadliest Catch, and that's just what they are, cheap and crappy. And how about History channel goes back to playing a majority of doumentaries that are actually worth watching. I flipped over to the History Channel last night and what did they have? Nostradamous: 2012 WTF!?!?!?!? Posted by brandbll

They're obviously pandering to pop-culture vacuum heads who think that because it is on Discovery/History channel, it must have merit.

THAT is what bugs me. Imagine the journal "Nature" publishing articles on ghosts, bigfoot, 2012 and UFOs? What would happen? Well, the woos would pick up on it instantaneously. As a matter of fact, they'd probably accelerate negatively and go back in time in some sort of quasi-quantum orgasm state just to be able to react a microsecond faster than anyone else to the trappings of legitimacy such a publication might merit. Now, fast-forward ahead and the psuedo-reputable networks like Discovery (Owned by DCI) and the History Channel (owned by A&E/Disney/et al) start running this crap and people think it has some sort of implied legitimacy. It makes me nauseous.

I'm fine with a little bit of that junk here and there. That's not too big of a deal as long as it is handled properly. However, the way they handle it most of the time implies that there is some sort of real legitimacy to many claims made in these programs. It's fracking ridiculous and, IMO, they don't seem to care about presenting "Non-Fiction" to their customers. They just want viewers and don't care how many of them are innocent kids getting their heads filled with babble that they "trust" is legitimate.

I put on my robe and wizard hat...
