I’m surprised by the conclusion of the article : “Even if truly functional humanoid space robots are many years away at the earliest (if they ever do come about), the investments that NASA is making now should speed up the deployment of more practical robotics here on Earth, which is almost as good, really, and a lot more practical.”

Are those robots really “many years away?” …

Also, I wonder why neither NASA nor SpaceX bought or invested in Boston Dynamics a few years back in 2017. With the robots SPOT and ATLAS, that company seemed to be well ahead in this field. Anyone would like to comment on that, please ?
