One of the things I really like about the new dr is what, while there is the usual mayhem, we are reminded frequently that the casualties are real people, not just drones.

In the first series, we have to comment by thed r that an ordinary man is the most important thing in the universe.

In the 2nd series we have the poignant scene when we discover that one of the Cybermen was once a woman called Sally Fielding.

In the first episode of the 3rd series we have the scene where the consultant realises is dreams of retiring to Florida and seeing his daughter graduate are not going to be realised.

Jon

Whether we become a multi-planet species with unlimited horizons, or are forever confined to Earth will be decided in the twenty-first century amid the vast plains, rugged canyons and lofty mountains of Mars Arthur Clarke

Got to agree with that. It's more upbeat than the others, too. I wonder if that's because of improved video.

In what way do you find them more upbeat?

Jon

Whether we become a multi-planet species with unlimited horizons, or are forever confined to Earth will be decided in the twenty-first century amid the vast plains, rugged canyons and lofty mountains of Mars Arthur Clarke
