hooey? Well... Venus could continue to expand to the point at which its density would thin enough, it might shed its outer crust and create a new moon. wink wink

"If something's hard to do, then it's not worth doing." - Homer Simpson

Forget about the ridged bounderies set by by ourselvs and our past and think a bit futher--if you can-- Why did God create everything to reproduce its own kind but created a dead universe full of dead pieces of rocks floating around in dead space. It does not make sense or it will make sense if you do not believe in God.

On a scientific level your post is nonsense

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Monsters. I suppose my post is a bit out of line but is it not relevant. Is God not the greatest scientest we are just trying to figure out with maths and formulas how He did it as it is done already. With all our science and knowledge we cannot even create one living cell. Sorry if you are offended by this post but I am just trying to make a point for everyone to be open minded.
I agree: It is possible that God exists and helped get the moons in the optimum positions, if they are in optimum positions. Is that suficiently open minded? Our job as scientists is to figure the most likely method God used. Neil

I agree with that theory, maybe it was something that wasn't left in, but I also saw a theory on t.v. where asteroids may have broken part of the earth off, creating the moon. Who knows though.
You may be a genius, but google knows more than you!

chembuff1982:

where asteroids may have broken part of the earth off, creating the moon

Me: In any theory logic must be applied first. I could agree with that impact theory if our moon was the only one in the system but impact for every moon? Not possible. As I showed earlier the Bible does talk about something that is going to happen soon that will cause the end of the world as we know it. If something that drastic is going to happen soon shoulf God not have warned us as He did in the past?

No good. The Earth-Moon system is unique in it's mass range in the percentage of the system that is the moon. No other planet's satellite masses even come close, except for Pluto/Charon which is a whole different beast.

Edit:::The earth impactor (if the theory is correct) was not an asteroid, but a dwarf planet. So saying it was a mere asteroid is not true.

Mercury, 0 Moons
Venus, 0 Moons
Mars, 0 moons (two little rubble bits in a short period orbit)

Jupiter, whole bunch of moons that are a tiny percentage of the mass of the parent planet.
Saturn, Uranus, Neptune the same.

So the inner rocky, small planets have no moons except for the earth.

The outer gas giants have a whole lot that don't amount to a hill of beans, as would be expected considering their Hill radius.

Pluto/Charon/Nix/Hydra is actually a confirmation that an impact can create a satellite system.

God may have rolled the dice, but after that, it's physics. Please don't get this thread moved to P.....

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Monsters.
