It is. I also wanted to show your national flag & the NASA logo. The Phoenix Mission logo is a real nice work of art. Sums up the mission very well. Just hope that nothing craps up in the morning. Will be mightily releived when Phoenix is safely on her way, then Endeavour, then DAWN. I will be watching the launch!!!! Looking forward to it, but also feeling a little scared. Do Nasa have a "Logo Designing Department" who design all these logos for the shuttle and other missions? Would be good if they let school children submit their own designs and the best one is used on the rocket. Would get interest in the space program from an early age

I will do MeteorWayne. I was part of the campaign to get a Martian Polar mission approved after the fiasco that was the Mars Polar Lander (hence this is the Phoenix from that disaster). In a way, I do feel a part of this mission (I was also involved with the DAWN campaign too), & really am scared of the thought, that the launch could fail (think Mariner 8, the first attempted NASA Mars orbiter, although we have come a very long way since then & the Delta 2 is a great reliable launcher). I guess that it is only normal to get the butterflies with something so important. Hi bobblebob. Brilliant idea. We MUST get the young interested in Science. In Britain, we are having a real crises as universities, colleges, & schools are all cutting back on science courses & lessons. Many young people are enrolling on useless, crap, cheap, easy, Politically Correct courses, that are of no use what so ever (unless they think flipping burgers in McDonalds or claiming benefits is a career). They think that Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Geology, Medicine, Meteorology, Physics, etc are too difficult & are causing most of the worlds problems & any other bandwagon they can jump on. We MUST reverse this erosion of human development. I really fear for the future of my country at least. Jon Clarke said the same is happening in Australia & I fear it is happening throughout the developed world. My thoughts anyway. Even when i did science at school (cant believe its 10 years ago) we never did anything interesting, and i think thats the problem now. The most exciting thing i did was heat up some chemicals to see how they react to heat, not very exciting. Seems these days science is more about reading from a book that practical work. Shame

I'll venture a guess that he calls it a fiasco because it's a crumpled pile of rubble in the Martian arctic..... The Delta 2 rocket and Phoenix have arrived in a preliminary orbit around Earth following launch this morning from Cape Canaveral. The vehicle will coast for more than an hour before the second stage is re-ignited. 0935 GMT (5:35 a.m. EDT) T+plus 8 minutes, 30 seconds. The second stage engine is consuming a hydrazine propellant mixture and nitrogen tetroxide oxidizer. This burn is needed to achieve a parking orbit around Earth. 0934 GMT (5:34 a.m. EDT) T+plus 8 minutes. The Air Force's downrange tracking station on Antigua Island has acquired the rocket's signal.
