I want to learn to touch type but I hate the boring texts that you usually have to wade through in order to get the practice, plus it would be of no use to anyone to type in that much gibberish. Therefore I was thinking of typing up some of my notes from a physics degree I took a few years ago. I'm not going to type the whole course but a few topics might be of interest. The options are:

So take your pick and help me get carpel tunnel syndrome.
Meh, if you want to learn to touch type, learn to MUD (google it). Wastes lots of time, but is far more fun than typing up physics notes, and can teach to you program at the same time.

Worked for me at least.

Mud - multi user dungeon? I stopped playing them about 1988 when the first FPS and Elite came out

Still it looks like a draw between QM and Relativity. I'll start on the relativity, but only special. General gets hard very quicky.

I will go with Nuclear Astrophysics. Hey... does this topic talk about "dark matter"?
We are born. We live. We experiment. We rot. We die. and the whole process starts all over again! Imagine That!

I've settled on 1st year modern physics which has a bit of everything, sorry I havn't started yet but I'm still hunting for some of the notes. If I have time I'll have a go at basic cosmology as well but a lot has changed in the 10 years since I first did that course.

Just remember, nobody suspects the spanish inquisition!

I could always be, IMO, more evil, and not say anything in an effort to watch you hang yourself... (not that I expect that to happen).

But yeah, I'll throw out questions to see what's up if things get a little vague or confusing.

--------------------SaiphMOD@gmail.com -------------------

"This is my Timey Wimey Detector. Goes "bing" when there's stuff. It also fries eggs at 30 paces, wether you want it to or not actually. I've learned to stay away from hens: It's not pretty when they blow" -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

The problem with typing up physics notes is that unless you're transcribing a "Physics for Poets" class, there are going to be a lot of equations with superscripts, subscripts, integrals, etc. as well as tables and graphs. This stuff is hard to type, and even if you master it I can't see that it really helps you with touch typing.

If you don't like MUDs, then a good book would be a better use of your time. There's a big market for e-bookwarez on PDAs. For example, I typed The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins, my very favorite pop science author. Sure I could have OCR'd it, but this way I got to think about each chapter as I typed it.

There's also Typing of the Dead. It's a hilarious twist on House of the Dead, in which you have to type words and phrases fast to kill the zombies before they get you. It'll have you ROFL in no time.
