Hi Jon, thanks for you answer.

I think that it is real too. I looked at the other images in the same selection, & they too
clearly showed tilted layering.

I do prefer the idea that Hadley Delta is indeed uplifted primordial anorthositic crust.

The layering would be successive episodes like crystal loading.

A shame that I could not find some real close ups.

This site would be worth returning to IMO.

Also obviously because I have met two of the Apollo 15 astronauts (Irwin & Worden), & the
volcanic nature of this area, would be biased anyway.

I will post some more images on this thread.

Once again, thanks Jon.

Andrew Brown.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world. I was disappointed too when I know it.
KAGUYA has a high-resolution camera provided NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) to take images of Moon and Earth.
If KAGUYA had camera enough to spot the Apollo landers and the flags and take pictures of it,
These pictures would make an impression on the world.
Hi Andrew

Re: AS17-139-21203

I had seen this before, in Michael Light's excellent book. It really shows how wild and lonely the lunar surface is, and how miniscule our exploration of it.

Jon

Whether we become a multi-planet species with unlimited horizons, or are forever confined to Earth will be decided in the twenty-first century amid the vast plains, rugged canyons and lofty mountains of Mars Arthur Clarke

Thank you very much Jon.

I am always happy to provide you with links.

The AS16-124-19888 image came from Apollo Image Atlas.

I have reposted the image below (re-orientated so north is at top) as I figured
out what we are looking at.

Towards the top right off the lunar limb is Triangulum. the bright star below Triangulum is
Hamel / Alpha Arietis. The Pleiades / M45 are clearly visible on the left.

Above the Peiades / M54 are Zeta Persei & Atik.

Could not agree with you more, it is a great one to throw at the pathetic woo-woos of the
"why are there no stars in Apollo" photos HB crowd.

Also I could not agree with you more also about AS17-139-21203.

I have three copies of that excellent book. One is at work, on permanent loan in the staff room,
one next to our bed, & one in my large collection of books.

It does clearly show how little of the moon we have really explored from ground level.

Thats what I say to the crowd who say, we have explored the moon, why go back?"

No we have not. We have started, but in no way near completing.

Andrew Brown.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world.
