I have some questions to ask of s_g and I thought that since the answers might be of interest to other members of the Shuttle_Guy is Cool Club, I'd ask in public. Dave, if you don't want to answer them all publicly, tis cool.
You've said before that you started out on the Apollo program - what was your Apollo job? I think I remember you saying it was thermal on the second stage, correct me if I'm wrong. Then after Apollo, you shifted over to Shuttle - OMS engineer originally, then TPE. When exactly did you move over to test-project - before STS-1 or after? Oh, and who did you work for before the creation of USA - North American/Rockwell?
I had asked you a before the crash if you were going to get drafted into OSP (now CEV) work - any signs of that happening? Do you get to hear what's happening with the CEV teams - I imagine they aren't based at KSC, but does the interesting info trickle up from the design guys? Oh, and could you please post your 'illegal' picture of Columbia pre-STS-1 again.

Whoa! Now that is interesting news. On the other hand, that actually strengthens their position. I believe Boeing's space group is still barred from getting government contracts, so they can only get in on it as a subcontractor, and besides, if Boeing and Northrup-Grumman work together, they may be able to beat LockMart.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Okay Club Members, I emailed our esteemed President - S_G is out of town for a few days. Seems he's been drafted onto an interesting project - not sure if he wants it made public though.

>I wonder what our president is up to...
I guess it would be okay to say that there's a chance he might have to change his name to HLLV_Guy.
Edited to add: He didn't actually say he was working on a HLLV project, but that was the idea I got from what he said.

:-D Oh my! Haha... i'm feeling all giddy right now.

I wasn't necessarily for HLLV but damn, if they build it they're certainly going to have to use it! Just hope it's not shuttle-derived.

And not a word about it in any of the usual places. I am tempted to think that somebody got it wrong.

It's not wrong. That's the same as what I've heard from 'insiders' as well.

Well I've always been a big Space Shuttle geek, I couldn't get enough of the movie Space Camp growing up, went to Space Academy in Huntsville in Junior High. You know I've got that Space Shuttle "Users Manual" with the fold out diagrams of the consoles. I’ve always been intrigued by the topics and the information SG has posted in here and I will always be a big fan, club or no. Of course this hasn’t always been my user name so I’ve been reading SG material for a good while.

Last On Larry I know, but I'd like to be the New Zealand Bureau Chief of the SGIC club please.

That would make the acronym SGICC-NZBC ... it even kinda rhymes ... cool!

As they used to say about the British Empire, the sun will never set on the SGICC!

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

>Damn, I just realized I am old. My youngest, my daughter, turns 29 in January.
It's not that you're old, you've just spent a lot of time gathering material for your wild stories!

Hi all, I have been in Houston all week on a project that I can not talk about. I did work OSP before it was killed. This is something else and it is REALLY BIG. If Kerry had won the project would have been DOA but as it is I will work on the Launch Control Center TPE console for a 12 hour shift tommorow (we worked 12s in Houston also)

I REALLY like the sound of this!!

Hope you have fun on your new project, Shuttle_Guy. Sounds like it's tied into MtM.

Uhh....what does TPE stand for? And also DOA? I know what the latter means, I just can't figure out what words each letter stands for. For the former, I have no idea.

I'm going to withhold further judgement considering I don't even know what we're talking about here for sure!

But I am definately very excited! Woohoo!!

Oh, and no matter how old you are... just look at that picture you posted. That's you, right? Do you realize that I think I would die a happy man if I had a picture like that, standing in your place. It's absolutely fantastic. Congrats man, er.. guy, and good luck with the new project.

Let us know when you think you'll be able to tell us more about it!
