What a neat day this turned out to be! Congratulations Steve Fossett, Richard Branson, and all their crew!

Now, for a criticism--Surely we could have had better informed, coverage on TV! I caught the landing on NBC--they actually interrupted programming for that or I'd have missed it. The Virgin web site was just overwhelmed most of the time and seemed very uncoordinated with the information. I liked the map they had, but, as others have commented, it would have been more interesting if a dotted or dashed line indicated where that little triangle had been.

Just want to say thanks to all of you who participated by giving a post by post description of the flight. It certainly made it exciting to be part of the event.

Why not have SDC present a printed copy of this thread to Steve Fossett and Richard Branson?

Wow! Awesome! I had to go into the office today and couldn't watch it on TV... and they have a blocker on for uplink, so I couldn't even follow it on here! Cool! And great to re-read everything as if I were there. Thanks guys!

What an awesome acheivement! What's left? How about circumnavigation across the poles? I'm game! Anyone have Sir Richard's phone number?

Following along with this flight was a lot of fun. Thanks to all.
Now, if only we had an ultra long range spaceflight to track!

I'd like to add my thanks to those who posted updates on this thread. I was out of town yesterday and couldn't follow the last day of the event in real-time. Reading it today was almost as good. Nice work, guys.

And, of course, congratulations to the Virgin GlobalFlyer team for their success. {Beer mug in hand raised in salute! }

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. Can't believe I missed almost the entire flight.

Oh well, Congrats to Fosset, Scaled and Virgin. Wonder wants next in the pipe line (other than Virgin Galatic) I think we have to look to these 3 to supply and complete the next cool aeronautical challenge.
"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring.
