Coming up to the deorbit burn in a few minutes. Burn complete. Time for 'lady gravity' to reintroduce herself to a couple of 6-month absconders.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

Yes, timely reminder of that SG. That makes me think of the Columbia re-entry video also, not that it would have made a difference for them.

I wonder why they don't have the Soyuz up on the main map board?

Uh-oh, here comes Rob!

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

Hey, I like Rob! He-of-the-incredibly-long-sentence.

Couple of minutes to module separation and entry interface.

Yeah, he'd be my favourite NASA commentator. It won't be the same if he's not there to call '114's launch, and they use Scott Bakula instead.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

I thought I heard a camera shutter clicking away. Hopefully the ISS crew got some good photos too.

They don't deploy the comms until after touchdown now, don't they?

Ooops, Kylie just said they have comms with TMA-5.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

Will Rob be getting the landing on his satellite phone, or can we expect some live feed from the Russians?

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

Yes, the SAA does look bigger than in the past. I don't remember it touching both South Africa and so far inland in South America before.

Maybe they have reconfigured some of the beams?

Oh dear, I think I better shut up now.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

I don't know if it's seasonal, but I know it's variable. I've just never seen it that big on a NASA tracking map. As an aside, it's also slowly drifting West - in 50 years or so it should be centered over Patagonia.

Sounds dryish, as they are calling in additional helos.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

Sorry, I meant in the context of how muddy they had been worried it might be.

Hmmm, the info seems a little contradictory from Kylie. I assumed when they called the additional helicopters in, they were signalling a better than anticipated LZ condition.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

Yes, it looks like we won't be seeing the guys until they get back to their medical tent in town at the earliest.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

Nice videophone footage of the guys. Red Bull will be happy for the publicity I imagine too.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

I don't recall the press/PAO having this much access in the past. There seems to be photographers everywhere, and they just showed what looked like an interview with Sharipov. It's interesting, but seems a bit chaotic.

I dunno, there always seems to be a bit of a media/officials scrum around Russian space events. I found the numbers surrounding Expedition 11/Vittori on the journey to the pad even more surprising.

Anyway, it's good to see this re-entry went largely without incident. It's cleared the way for everyone to focus on the next cab off the rank, STS-114.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!
