I think they should take a really long break. 10 years or so.

I agree sci-fi channel should pick it up. They could put it on at 6 or 7pm as part of the sci-fi friday line-up. That night is probably to full as it is though.

Why would SciFi need enterprize? They've got Stargate.
I enjoy all the Star trek series and movies but for whatever reason Star Trek Enterprise never 'felt' like Star Trek. It had a kind of Folksy ring to it.

I have enjoyed "Enterprise" more than any other "Star Trek" series to date ("DS9" was a close second). I agree that being shown on UPN was probably at least partly responsible for its eventual demise.

Maybe once science fiction fandom goes for years without new 'Trek', enough demand will exist for the next show/movie/miniseries to be a hit.

". I am upset because they keep showing repeats but never show a repeat of the season opener so I can see how Archer got back in the real timeline. "

Download Azureus, and then go to Torrentstop.com you can dl any of the episodes from there.

Hey, I'm serious!

I'd love to see a series take place on the Klingon home world, with Worf as the lead. It'd be a nice change to have a planet-based rather than space-based series. Although there would be plenty of opportunity for space-based episodes. And it would be interesting to see events from the Deep Space Nine and Next Generation era from a Klingon viewpoint. Yet at the same time, everyone would be able to identify with Worf. The time frame would allow for appearences by characters from the Deep Space Nine or Next Generation series.

The Klingons are facinating and dramatic. There is already a well developed Klingon language and mythology. And, admit it, the Klingon babes, scary as they are, really hold the attention.

Worf has lots of "issues" with his family and other Klingon clans. Wouldn't it be great to see some of these issues played out? Maybe he could end up in the Klingon security apparatus, or be a rising political leader.

They brought Worf to Deep Space Nine to breath new life into that series, I think he can breath new life into the whole Star Trek franchise with his own series.

i agree. A break would be the best thing, right now. Not TOO long tho, but enough that the fan base will begin to miss having ST around. Instead of taking it for granted.

For me, Enterprise was the best series theyve made. TOS had the original glimmer of greatness. TNG brought that back to us years later. DS9 well, it set the marker for Space-opera. Voyager... one word "SEVEN" (it was an awsome series too) But Enterprise.. it had everything: An excellent cast, with characters that really grew on you, drama, intrigue, cliffhangers galore, great writing, original sories, all based on the premise of exploration and the history of the Federation. IMO it was well done from start to finish.

What i would like to see: Maybe a series that starts BEFORE that. Each season would be individual cronicalling the rise of space exploration and the Federation. Each season would be set anywhere from 25 - 75 years after the previous one, with new characters etc. that way it also gives them a way for a little crossover, but also keeps it fresh every season. You see the technology develop, characters die, you see the whole ST world develop from the start to the future. This format would also allow for some amazing story arcs. And it wouldnt have to be like 5 years have gone by between episodes. just between seasons. Okay.. i better shut up before this makes no sense.

In any case, for you folks that dont get UPN out there:
Download Azureus and then go to any number of Bittorrent sites. i find complete seasons out there for grabs, and personally i go to Torrentstop.com

so... goodbye Enterprise. i know ill be missing my lazy saturday ritual of ST, Coffee, and Gaming. Maybe i should go back to the gym........

Yeah I think a break would be good. Enterprise barely felt like star trek and the opening credits were horrible.

Although I thiink the biggest kiss of death for enterprise was being a preqile based so far in the past.

I think a sersis done between kirk's time and tng or a little closer to kirk's time(say 20-30 years before) might have been more intresting.

Another thing that would be cool is if they did a sersis on another ship. Say an older ship that isn't the top of the line or the top technology. Or perhaps life on a colony.

i'll add that i found the opening 'sex' scenes offensive in the desperate attempt to raise ratings

i hate to see it go just when it was starting to get good by showing the history of the federation.

My guess is that the final episode will establish the Federation.

This past week's episode laid the ground work for the Federation. It was the first time the Vulcans, Humans, Andorians, and Telerites all worked together on a common goal...
Don't let your sig line incite a gay thread ;>)

I agree with your assessment. Also, I thought the battleship gray drabness and ugliness of the ship didn't help at all.

Why Enterprise did not fail, By John Sullivan.

In February, 2002 - while ENTERPRISE was in its first season, the network that aired all of Voyager and this new show, ENTERPRISE (UPN) was ripped away from Paramount's control and given to CBS, a competing studio located about a mile west of Paramount. Under a new Viacom-driven reorganization plan, Star Trek: Enterprise, the brainchild of the now defunct "Paramount Television Group" would now be aired on a CBS Television Group asset. Personnel at UPN were fired and costs were slashed. UPN Chairman Dean Valentine, and everyone else who had brought Enterprise to the airwaves was gone, and effectively, on February 1st, 2002, almost all advertising for Paramount's favorite TV show was pulled.

Dawn Ostroff quickly changed the tune and tone of UPN to make it nearly impossible for Star Trek to continue to thrive there. Yet, it did - far longer than in hindsight we should have expected. If Paramount did make ANY mistakes with Star Trek it was during Season 2, when they allowed Nemesis to escape into release. Following a ten-billion dollar frivilous lawsuit against Viacom by Activision this first season of ENTERPRISE should have been its last.

Yet, due to pressures by Paramount, now completely separated from the network it had launched - namely studio head Sherry Lansing (who is now departing) Star Trek stayed around. Even last year, when UPN wanted to cancel it, Paramount paid great amounts of money to UPN so that UPN would not lose any money by keeping the show. (To be fair, they wouldn't make any, either.)

So people can sit here and nitpick Star Trek all day long, but in fact, the reasons the show won't be coming back have little or nothing to do with Star Trek or even Paramount Pictures. Star Trek was lost in the confusion of the unpredictable sweeping changes taking place under Viacom at large.

The show is now going into syndication, which is a great success for Paramount

Thank you for that insight, grooble. A friend of mine in L.A. told me a couple of these facts, the rest from you are an eye-opener. I will miss Enterprise, for in my opinion except for a few episodes, it was a better show than Voyager. I think Star Trek should be rested, for a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 4.

I guess we could say "The Man" killed Star Trek again.

One Percent of Federal Funding For Space: America CAN Afford it!! LEO is a Prison -- It's time for a JAILBREAK!!

I liked the latest episode on how the Klingons got their flat forehead. 2 NX class in action...cool man!
But somethings never change...minutes into the battle, NX-02 complains all their weapons are down! I had hoped with NX-02 they would have introduced some rudimentary shield system based on Malcom's forcefield in season 2. that could complement their polarised hull plating which has a habit of being blown away...60%...40%...10%...!

To Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before...

Live Long and Prosper

I taped the series for a couple seasons or so, but then I gave up and quit paying attention to it because it was significantly more plodding dull than even Voyager was.

In my opinion, the demise was due to the writers falling into the "storyline" trap. They had to keep inventing ever more implausible ways to allow this primitive starship to survive till the next week.

Also, Scott Bakula was more suitable acting as a city bus driver , and not the captain of a Star Ship.
