I enjoyed the Stargate movie, and a few episodes of SG-1, but it turned into a "space opera" after a while.<br />Never gave Battlestar Galactica a chance; figured it was a 3rd-rate Star Trek.<br /><br />cool note: 1st post ever.

I like and enjoy both of them. Took me a long time to get into Stargate, though... wasn't until season 6 that I really got into it. Seen most of it now between reruns and DVDs. I also enjoy SG:Atlantis... just waiting for episode 20 of season 2 to come up on the 'on demand'. I really enjoyed BSG's first season. <br /><br />If you are that much of a fan, do a search for local sci-fi conventions. The Stargate actors do a pretty good job of touring around. In the past we've had a few of them in Toronto. Michael Shanks and Alexa Doig are scheduled for this years Trek convention in Toronto.

Welcome aboard, turner21!! SG1 is a very good series but I think it has overstayed it's welcome. Once the Orie(?) storyline has run it's course they should cancel it. Even the actors look bored now. SG1, as originally planned, should have become a movie franchise after Season 7. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p> </p><p>One Percent of Federal Funding For Space: America <strong><em><u>CAN</u></em></strong> Afford it!!  LEO is a <strong><em>Prison</em></strong> -- It's time for a <em><strong>JAILBREAK</strong></em>!!</p> </div>

At first I was skeptical with the cast chagne and the new enemy, however, I think the show has at least 1 or 2 more seasons left.

i think its getting better and better, although i miss Jack as he was the best character! i wasnt sure if they could carry it on after the end of the goaoul. but im glad they have... they are getting round to the 'end game' with the ascended beings (ori and the ancients) being the focus of this latest season. hopefully we'll get to see some more stories with the ancients etc... i like the idea that they are exploring a different kind of enemy though, based on religion, which parallels things happening here in the real world. I dont think they should carry it on after the end of the ori (or the earth! depending which way it goes!) but I always wanted them to get into stories about the ancients/ascension etc...

Agree, SG1 has definately been improving with each episode. <br /><br /><SPOILER /><br />2 weeks ago episode - great to see the Earthers loose the battlewagon Prometheus to the supperior fire power of the Ori. Shows the writers aren't shy of pointing out that we aren't the best.<br /><br />Atlantis - really looking forward to season 3.<br />BSG remains the best sf television series currently being aired. Would classed it as second best ever, behind Babylon.

<SPOILER><br /><br />Yes but she has been knocked up, possibly through immaculate conception - though I think its some kind of supper baby implanted by some transcended beings from our Galaxy or as Telc calls it, just like Darth Vader (midi clorens?)!

Arrgh has pretty low standards, and yet SG1 has not met a single one. It's like some unholy Milgram experiment, where enough people looking in the same direction make everyone else look in the same direction--and eventually adore it unconditionally.

Big gap - In an earlier episode, Thor is talking about the four main races which include the Ancients. If the Ancients are known by the Asgards then it appears to me that the Asgards should also have known about the Wraith seeing as how they were as powerful as the Ancients. This would be five races. I think the Nox was one of the other races. Can't remember number 4.

Aren't the Ancients just really old ascended human though?<br /><br />And the wraith are a hybrid between the Wraithis(?) bug and humans.<br /><br />What are the Nox?

"Aren't the Ancients just really old ascended human though?"<br />--------------------------------------------------------------<br />The Ancients ascended after conducting genetic experiments in our galaxy that would result in the evolution of four new species that would be genetically identical to the Ancients. In a sense they recreated themselves from scratch. Those four species are Humans, Nox, Asgard (who over time genetically engineered themselves into the little grey guys we all know and love) and the Furling who we have never seen (although Col. O'neil is convinced they must be "furry"). Apparently there were still un-ascended Ancients around when the Nox, Asgard and Furling achieved space-flight because they formed the "Four Races" that ran the galaxy before the G'oauld came to power. Atlantis seems to imply that the Ancients might have accidently created the Wraith when the Ancients who migrated to Pegasus tried the same kind of genetic experiments on the life forms of the "vampire bug" planet.
