Did they say exactly how long before? I've watched the ET camera a few times and I didn't see it.

Where is a good video link to the ET camera of the Shuttle launch? I have seen Msnbc's video but they had only a couple short shots from the External Tank. Is there a link somewhere from the ET during the whole launch.

Thanks in advance!

Just got out of bed after a couple of hours sleep. Important questions first ... who's the babilicious CAPCOM on at the moment?

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

I thought they had let Jessica lose on the CAPCOM for a second.

That'd of been fun.

"And Discovery, Houston, can you errr, do that thing where errrr, just press some buttons, thanks in advance"

I'm too cruel for my own good sometimes

Does the timing of the SRB sequence take into account the rocking of the stack?

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Great job Dave and all else who made this amazing day possible! Hard fought and well earned

Watched the launch this morning but havent had a chance to post about it until now. I had to watch on NASA TV on my laptop because I'm staying on campus for the week and we don't have NASA on the local cable. I had to keep myself from screaming with excitement in a room full of studying people when Discovery lifted off!

Yes! T-0 is timed for exactly when the stack passes back through vertical.

YES!!!! I posting all the way from England, UK!

A great launch for Discovery. I'm also glad to post in such a cool community coz I was reading a lot of the posts at http://news.bbc.co.uk and read too many negative comments. Its seems like a lot public in the UK but also elsewhere including the States are ignorant to NASA new vision for space exploration and also of the purpose of space exploration in general, its a shame!

Still, there are those like myself in the UK that are always glad to see a successful launch!

Just been watcing NASA TV live coverage. Commander Eileen is just cool! I like her. It seems like the crew have been very productive upon arriving in orbit and are ahead of the operations schedule slightly!

Wohoo!

They just informed the crew of the debris noticed. Two events: one was noticed by the ET cam, and another by ground-based radar.

The imagery team is meeting at wakeup (12:40 am EDT) and will discuss the debris. No changes to tomorrow's procedures.

Thank you for not starting that with "Yes Wayne, you senile old coot" - I was having one of those things disappearing from my brain box faster than they come in moments...

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Is there any more inside information relating to the two debris incidents, I take it the leading edge sensors have not detected any problems?

Thanks
Mars, the leading edge data has not reached the ground yet. It has to be collated onboard by the laptop network and will be sent down tonight.
