Seems a lot of USA and NASA people are in beddy byes right now, so they can work through the night and be ready for the morning launch.

Little bit of trivia for you here...another phrase for bedtime is "in the land of nod". There's actually a villiage near me called "Land of Nod" and that's apparently where the phrase came from, as everyone there died in the great plauge....people thought the villiage was in a deep sleep.

You're welcome

According to the timeline, the crew sleep period begins in about 90 minutes. (3:30 pm EDT, 7:30 pm GMT)

>ashes, ashes, we all fall down<

It's (pronounced at-tish-u) as in sneeze. People with the plauge used to sneeze as a sign they had it. That's also why people say "Bless you" when you sneeze.

How long till NajaB kicks my arse for taking this off topic?

I hope Jessica isn't rostered on tonight.

Live coverage on NASA TV begins at 4pm NZT this afternoon for the Kiwi's. (or 16:00 hours for halman if he's visiting!)

That's 0400 GMT/UTC or 12am EST.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

I need to be in bed right now too, just so I can get up extra early in the morning to avoid that morning commute... ugh, it's going to be awful. I live in titusville and work in Cocoa Beach. I'm guessing 1 hr and 45 minute commute.

Since today seems slow on news and we're off topic, let me introduce you to a website called Snopes.com. It explores urban legend and rumors.

Ring Around the Rosie being based on the plague is apparently false.

Saying bless you for a sneeze has an undetermined origin, but they trace it back to at least the year 150AD.

Nothing on the Land of Nod though, but Wikipedia has this.

*edit with Land of Nod info...

Engineers etc. are starting to show their faces (in a virtual sense).

I hope SG checks in before work.

Time to start coverage proper in the next hour I reckon. Same as last time with us. Simply click the link in my signature, top story will update with links to the live thread (which is linked back to here as well) and updated news articles, captured images off NASA TV etc.etc.

God Speed Discovery.

Anyone seen a site which covers medical data for the astronauts on launch? I'm not sure such information would be available due to confidentiality, etc, but I would be curious to see basic heart rate plots for tonight's launch. Who remains calmest, who has the newbie adrenaline pumping, whether there are heightened rates generally due to the context of this mission.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

Anyone who wishes to be mailed a litttle something, mail me at chrisbergin@nasaspaceflight.com as soon as possible, as I'll not be able to send this out individually. 9mb file, so no dial up people, sorry. Make sure your e-mail will accept 9mb.

I don't want to give details, as this is something you should simply see ahead of STS-114.

Until the government-military authorities deal with a city like Grants Pass, Oregon and it's psycho-subliminal covert operations I foresee inevitable disaster for those to choose to ignore the evidence. I have written NASA, the DoD, the UN, the FBI and many others requesting an investigation into these atrocities. As a matter I fact I wrote via regular mail the Stennis Space Center in November 2004 and haven't had a response. 1000's of posts and 1000's of pages of material available for their review.

"All this data indicates there's something down there"- from the movie "2010"

"Delusions, errors and lies are like huge gaudy vessels whose rafters are worm-eaten and rotten and those who embark upon them are destined to be ship-wrecked."- Buddha
