this is rubbish surely?

By MIKE FOSTER

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Scared-stiff astronomers have detected a mysterious mass they've dubbed a "chaos cloud" that dissolves everything in its path, including comets, asteroids, planets and entire stars -- and it's headed directly toward Earth!

Discovered April 6 by NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, the swirling, 10 million-mile- wide cosmic dust cloud has been likened to an "acid nebula" and is hurtling toward us at close to the speed of light -- making its estimated time of arrival 9:15 a.m. EDT on June 1, 2014.

"The good news is that this finding confirms several cutting- edge ideas in theoretical physics," announced Dr. Albert Sherwinski, a Cambridge based astrophysicist with close ties to NASA.

"The bad news is that the total annihilation of our solar system is imminent."

Experts believe the chaos cloud is composed of particles spawned near the event horizon of a black hole (a form of what's called Hawking Radiation) that have been distorted by mangled information spewed from the hole.

"A super-massive black hole lies about 28,000 light-years from Earth at the center of our galaxy," explained Dr. Sherwinski.

"Last year the eminent physicist Stephen Hawking revised his theory of black holes -- which previously held that nothing could escape the hole's powerful gravitational field. He demonstrated that information about objects that have been sucked in can be emitted in mangled form.

"It now appears that mangled information can distort matter.

"Just imagine our galaxy the Milky Way as a beautiful, handwritten letter.

"Now imagine pouring a glass of water on the paper and watching the words dissolve as the stain spreads. That's what the chaos cloud does to every star or planet it encounters."

To avoid widespread panic, NASA has declined to make the alarming discovery public. But Dr. Sherwinski's contacts at the agency's Chandra X-ray Observato

RCH and the Enterprise Mission are on full alert, it appears the cloud will also destroy Mars and all the cities and artifacts there.

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

Jeez, this article is getting posted all over today.

Yes, it's rubbish. It's by the Weekly World News, a journal reknowned for parodying real news. Once in a while, it is mistaken for actual news. Don't worry; they're just having fun.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

How is it going to destroy the entire solar system if it is only 10 million miles wide and the planetary region of the solar system is billions of miles wide?

Fun story. I hope my conspiracy-loving aunt doesn't read it or I know what Thankgiving dinner conversation will be about

Well, to the best of my knowledge, this has not been debunked on the Hoagland website, and they certainly have had time to by now.

I'm considering it confirmed.

No critical comments from the Raelians, either, that I am aware of.

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

Don't forget Windows XP, the Next Generation.

{I'm a little grumpy with MS, had to reinstall Windows three times in three days. Everything is all ok now, I'm just a little rattled}

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

Hey, you've got excellent taste in computers, dude. I'm also running MacOS X on a dual-processor PowerPC G4. I have owned five computers in my life; all have been Macintoshes. I know there are few other "macheads" here, but at the moment I don't recall off the top of my head who they are.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

coolness. another mac person. yes, i'm a visual artist so i cannot really stand windows and never understood it's appeal. it is a lame copy of macOS anyway. i'm very right-brained and intuitive and hate computer code and commands and linear thinking.

i owned a windows machine about ten years ago after having had macs, and could not stand it. i know it has been a while since then, but today i see no reason to have anything else --just as the windows crowd sees no reason to have a mac. yet, the processors for mac are all IBM, and i hear after the G5s they will all be Intel based macs!

i have a 5 year old G4, fully maxed out, and it is still kicking. i'm tempted to get a G5, as those are millions of light years ahead of G4 processors. but alas, here i stand by my trusty old machine. maybe i'll wait until she just totally burns up.

Yet another MacHead right here! Of course that goes hand in hand with graphics and advertising which is what I do. About 10 years ago when Mac was in the red, all my PC buddies kept telling me "see, mac is going the way of Betamax" I would argue no way becuase us users are so stinking loyal (especially in large segments of design, printing, journalism, and schools) and the product is so good. I remember saying that If I had money (which I didn't as I was in college) I'd invest it in apple cause they were going to come back. Then along come the pop culture phenoms of iMacs and iPods. Sigh...I wish I had money back then to invest!

Oh, and that article is rubbish lol.
It's probably time to drag this thread back on topic, kicking and screaming, even though us MacHeads tend to be insanely devoted to our computers, and seize any chance to brag about them. We are oddballs, but we are proud of it!

So, how about that matter-destroying cloud of antimatter?

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

The cloud isn't being debunked on any psuedo-sci, Hoaglanditic, UFO or related website.

It must be true, I'm telling you!

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!
