Some would say a bit corny, but I liked it!
Hell parker looks exactly like him,but I'm a thunderbirds fan from way back, and maybe the next one(that is if there is another) will have a bit more action in it now the story has been explained to everyone.

PS I want the hovercraft.

Thunderbirds absolutely ruled. I was a complete fan when I was a kid. The kids of today do not know what they are missing out on.

Each episode was so well produced. Great detail. Great storylines. I think that is why it has endured all of these years.

I heard they were going to make a movie or a new series, thirty years after the originals - is that what the thread is about?

Dang, some dumb fairies’ gone and turned them into real people! Perhaps they heard about Pinocchio!

BTW Was (let me see if can get this right)… "slaphead telekinetic nutter The Hood" in any of the original series? I think 36 were produced 1964-66, is that right?

I'm affraid I can't answer either question. although I seen a few episodes when they've been repeated I was never that big a fan. I prefered Gerry Andersons UFO.

"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. I was wrong there were actually 32 episodes produced between 1964 and 1966. "The Hood" is the arch enemy that appears throughout all the episodes.

You can get the whole series on remastered DVD now. Highly recommended for old and young alike. What was amazing about Thunderbirds was how well produced it was. Each episode is like a mini - James Bond thriller.

I found a great review on Amazon, here:

http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000068M9Q/space1999org-20/702-5442104-7372030

A piece of trivia - the original "Parker" puppet sold at auction a couple of years ago and set a world record for the most ever paid for a puppet. I managed to trawl an old newsclipping on it:

"Two of the original puppets from Thunderbirds have been sold at auction for £57,000.
Parker and Alan Tracy were sold to anonymous bidders at the auction at Planet Hollywood in London's West End.
The moon buggy used by James Bond in Diamonds are Forever went to an anonymous American bidder for £75,000 - well below the expected price of £150,000 - £200,000.
Parker went to a Japanese businessman for £38,000, while Tracy was bought for £19,000 at the Fleetwood Owen auction.
A perfect copy of Lady Penelope, cast from the original mould, was bought for £16,000, all prices with buyer's premium.
Parker and Lady Penelope were sold from the collection of Thunderbirds' creator Gerry Anderson, 35 years after the show hit the small screen.
The Alan Tracy puppet was sold from the collection of Philip Rae.
Mr Anderson said he had "mixed feelings" at seeing the puppets go, adding: "I am not a collector. If I had collected all the stuff I had ever worked on myself I would have had enough to fill a warehouse."
"There are mixed feelings about the sale. They are a piece of history."
The sale means that Lady Penelope and her chauffeur have been separated for the first time. And, Parker's £38,000 price tag set a world record for a puppet.

I haven't seen The Thunderbirds since I was a kid.

Looks like another set I'll have to watch by myself. My wife tolerated my movie choices until the dreaded day Battlefield Earth came out. Since then, I'm by myself

The movie was a little disapointing for me. The kids liked it though.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Wanna see this site looking like the old SDC uplink?

Go here to see how: SDC Eye saver

Hi Flynn, Crowing. I am a thousand dollars to the better, for my ticket to London for the cricket. Off this evening to earn some more.

I agree, UFO was the absolute best SCI FI show ever.

STREETS ahead of everything like it. Only Shaphire and Steel was as good a concept.

OH YEAH !.

I loved the matter a fact way, that they were accorded the hunter/killer role'.

And the machines ROCKED. The rich kid in our school, had every one of the craft, in die-cast . Fabiro corp?. I remember the ground craft, the roof swiveled open, and a rocket battery deployed, WITH ACTUAL FIRING ROCKETS !. [lust]

That is a series that they could bring back, and no mistake. Only, it ought not be an American hand. They simply haven't the least conception, as proven by some of the comments here about Sky Captain.

It had a certain feel, beyond my limited ability to explain. Lovely.

That's strange but I can't ever recall seeing UFO. I'm sure i would like it. Here is the ultimate Gerry Anderson site - listing all his various series including Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons and Stingray.

http://www.aiai.ed.ac.uk/~bat/GA/ga-links.html

I see that 36 episodes of UFO were made during 1969 and 1970, is that correct?

THUNDERBIRDS: The Movie
– (OR: We Knew This Would Happen)
By Matthew Black

Prologue: **I’ve been a fan for 34 years. I’ve got all the vehicle toys, books and DVDs. Hell; I’ve even written fan fiction that has gotten me fan mail from around the world!! Am I a true T-Birds fan? Well, I think so and I offer you a nonetheless fair attempt to be unbiased during the following review/dissertation.

Back in 1999 with the release of Star Wars – The Phantom Menace, some U.S. fanboy reviewer came back from that movie and proclaimed; “George Lucas has raped my childhood!” I wanted to punch the silly, hysterical clown in the mouth for reinforcing the stereotype that Science Fiction fans were anally retentive fools, obsessed with their entertainment. Besides, rape is a dramatic and ugly word, not suited to outrage about a movie. And although Phantom Menace was a rather mediocre film, it did NOT deserve that kind of vitriol. Hell, nothing could!

But now I find myself in a rather awkward position with this review. First a little backstory: In my home country of New Zealand, fans have followed or even loved “the big three” iconic Science fiction T.V. series. The big three I’m speaking of are, in no particular order: Doctor Who, Star Trek and Thunderbirds. Yes, I know that Gerry Anderson created several classic shows, but it is Thunderbirds that almost certainly commands the most respect and love. It is a testimony to the quality of this 40-year old young-adult (NOT children’s) show that Thunderbirds is still quite watchable today, and that most of the writing and portrayed technology still holds up.

Why did I and why do I still love Thunderbirds? Well, (WARNING: the word ICONIC is about to be used a lot) the stories, the technology, the music, the optimistic and lovable characters, the humour and the absolutely iconic vehicles make for an irresistible package, loved by hundreds of millions. And most importantly, I truly believe that Gerry a

One Percent of Federal Funding For Space: America CAN Afford it!! LEO is a Prison -- It's time for a JAILBREAK!!

Thank you for your compliments. I feel depressed after reading that!
I know what you mean though, and isn't it funny that with todays special effects that can truly make things come alive, that in many ways it could be argued as being no better than the puppet version 40yrs ago!

I don't now whether there will be a sequal,we'll have to wait and see I think!
