I read a partial about time reversal symmetry breaking at higher temperatures.

Time-reversal symmetry (TRS) is the idea that the laws of physics are the same whether time runs forward or backward. In certain materials, such as this Kagome superconductor, this symmetry can be violated, meaning the system behaves differently if time were reversed.

My question is how can time be reversed in a lab in order to study such quantum effects?

Kagome superconductor, this symmetry can be violated
A Kagome Lattice is way too complex for me but just to say that the very complexity may be misleading when considering symmetry. Anyway I assume they are considering anti-particles as time-reversed positive particles as per positrons and electrons
This symmetry means that if you reverse the direction of time, the physics should look the same, and particles can be thought of as moving backwards in time as their antiparticles. I assume then it is just a question of particle identity. Maybe

That would suggest that time doesn’t universally flow in the same direction. Time could flow forward for some particles, and at the same time flow backwards for others (antiparticles). Hurts my brain.

Mine too. But opposite hemispheres of a hypersphere may be projected to a plane halfway between the two so that although mathematically proceeding as if a hypersphere the actual action takes place on a 3D plane halfway between hemispheres - a sort of holographic projection. But I need to work through a load of stuff and my abilities are limited!
