Yes that spinoff from Dr Who is into its 4th episode this week for those lucky poms.

I just watched the 1st last night and was quite pleased with what was presented. Apart from that "Peter Jackson - Bad Taste/Brain Dead/Meet the Feebles" moment in the hospital I actually liked this more than the last season of Dr Who.

Though early days, it has potential.

Spoiler. Those who remember Dr Who season 1 or whatever it really is, should remember that rogue Captain Jack Harkness. Well guess who leads Torchwood Cardiff (3 of 4 torchwoods around the world)?

Oh yeah, just brag, why don't you!

I gotta get my "supplier" to furnish me with some episodes.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

As my wife said last night, episode 2 was definitely written by a male.

Spoiler:

An over sexed ET who feeds off sex with its MALE victims. The only analogy the Americans have for European free to air broadcast TV is cable. Yep what they let on BBC3 is so very “*** & Tuck”.

Suzie Costello doing a Brittany and Madonna snogging the human female host was so risque for only the 2nd episode.

Yep, watched both seasons, hopefully season 3 will be green-lit.

I like it, it's a darker side of the Who universe, and helps explain why humans managed to survive and thrive (it's certainly not becuase of the Doctor's medling, honest :) )

--------------------SaiphMOD@gmail.com -------------------

"This is my Timey Wimey Detector. Goes "bing" when there's stuff. It also fries eggs at 30 paces, wether you want it to or not actually. I've learned to stay away from hens: It's not pretty when they blow" -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

I've watched Season 1, but have caught very little of Season 2 due to it airing at my girls' bedtime. I'm trying to resist tuning in anyway because I'd rather watch them in order. ;-) I did catch the first 20 mins of "Fragments", though. (Sure was lucky that when the building came down, Jack was the only one to receive a fatal blow! )

I like it a lot. At first, it bugged me because it seemed to be just going for the usual themes of sex and violence -- in other words, trying too hard to be "mature". But my fears faded away fairly quickly, as the sex and violence was just part of the stories -- and because although it did feature casual sex, it showed that such encounters have emotional and social consequences. Sex changes relationships in the real world, and it did on Torchwood too. It was refreshing to see that; so many sci-fi series have a male lead who sleeps with the female guest star every week and then goes on as if nothing had happened. Of course, part of the reason this series *isn't* like that is because it doesnt' just have a male lead. It's an ensemble piece, and there are really two leads: Jack and Gwen, who, unlike in a lot of other series, are not romantically involved with one another and likely never will be. That's also refreshing.

It's good. I like it a lot. But I wouldn't say Gwen is hot. I don't swing that way. ;-) But Jack is a walking ball of sexual magnetism. Ianto's pretty easy on the eyes too. Owen, however, is a jerk, and I find him repellant. Not bad looking, but his attitude screams "don't accept a drink from this guy". He's very selfish, despite occasional noble instincts. Which, from the point of view of the story, makes him a very interesting character.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Gwen is hot not just because she has ling dark hair, a pretty face and beautiful blue eyes. Gwen is hot because she's real.

She cares. She is not pretentious. She is the counter to the narcissitic, omnisexual self centered piece of crap that Captain Jack Harkness is. I hate him. Mostly because in my life, I've had too much personal expoerience with the wreckage his kind leaves in his wake.

After watching the season 2 finale, it's going to be hard to imagine what the Torchwood team will be like. I assume that the door has been opened for Dr. Martha Jones, but who will take Toshi's place?

"2012.. Year of the Dragon!!
While I don't dislike Jack Harkness, I agree with you about those kind of narcicistic personalities. It takes a strong personality and a lot of self-confidence to deal with them without being run over by them. They will play others at every turn, even if unconsciously. Paris Hilton is a classic example, walking around wearing a t-shirt that says on one side, "I'm Hot" (I thinks she's odd-looking myself, and not stunning at all), and on the other "You're Not" (as if it's a given she's superior).

I just try to appreciate Harkness as a character designed for a specific role within "Torchwood." Or I'd probably dislike him myself.

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

According to Outpost Gallifrey, the series is now available via iTunes. Woohoo! I'd much prefer that to Bittorrent. I mean, I'm a cheapskate, but I feel strongly about paying for stuff like this when the option is available.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"
