Michael Bay has announced on his official website the release date for Transformers 3

Well its official: We have a great Transformers 3 story. The release date is now July 1st 2011. Not 2012.

Today is Day One. This morning started with an ILM meeting for five hours in San Francisco. Currently I'm flying with writer Ehren Kruger to Rhode Island to talk to Hasbro about new characters.

P.S. Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Please consult your Physician when working under my direction because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal tendencies, depression, minor chest hair growth, random internal hemorrhaging and inability to sleep. As some directors may be hazardous to your health, please consult your Doctor to determine if this is right for you.

Pain and Gain is right after shooting of Trans 3.

Ya know...

I saw the first one. I wasn't impressed. Well, I really liked the special effects and 3D because that's my hobby and all.. BUT, the movie itself.. well... it was bad.

I didn't see the second one and have no plans to see the third one. I'll read technical reviews in 3D magazines and on websites for the stuff I want to know about it. I don't see the need to be mentally assaulted for a couple of hours just to get the few minutes of interesting effects.

Does anyone really like these movies? I know they get lots of ticket sales. Sure, that's nice. But, is there anything in there that is going to make this a movie that someone might watch twenty years down the road when all these special effects are something kids can do on their pocket-comps during their lunch-break?

To me, that's a test of a good movie. I still watch Black&White pictures because the stories are just "that good" and any action, acting, cultural references are simply timeless. I'll watch old war movies that are simply "wrong," old dramas that seem silly in the modern age, old horror flicks and sci-fi because there's just something about a good story that refuses to be glossed over by dated special effects.

Will I watch "Transformers" twenty years from now? Would there be a reason to?

We enjoyed them. Personally the scene where you see a rear view of Megan Fox draped across the 'cycle in short-shorts is worth the ticket :)
