Margie, Erik (9) an I went with middle son Chris, his wife Beth & son Kaden (4.5) to todays matinee.

Action: 9/10. Lots of action, virtually non-stop.

Robots modeling/texturing: 9/10.

Robots animation: 7/10, a tad too much motion blur in some scenes but acceptable.

Characterization: 8/10, in a 2.5 hr action film with so many characters about all that can be done. Attempting to do more gives you the first Fantastic Four film. See Funny section.

Suitability for young ones: 8/10, non too bloody military violence, but scenes of threat. Like there wouldn't be in an actioner? Kaden handled them fine, cheering & dancing during the battle scenes.

The only marginally uncomfortable part was when Shia LaBeouf's screen mother asked him if he had been "self pleasuring" when he was slow to answer his door. Went right over Kaden & got a giggle out of Erik. The only one squirming was Margie

Funny: 8/10, lots of humor, especially a scene where the Autobots are waiting for Shia's character to get something from his house and his parents cause comic troubles; "His parent's are annoying! Shall I terminate them?"

We found it did a lot of the humanizing without excessive backstories. It's also necessary to balance the action, which otherwise would be exhausting.

Overall: a solid 8.2/10.

At our eMagine showing it got applause. Even my wife, who had missed the craze, liked it and wants the DVD.

Don't give stats yet... I haven't seen the movie yet.
We are born. We live. We experiment. We rot. We die. and the whole process starts all over again! Imagine That!

One Question, Is StarScream in it?
"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. We must never, ever be boring" - Chuck Palahniuk.

You'll lose a LOT of the experience as this is one of those best first seen on the big screen. The detail on the robots is often incredible.

although I'll still probably go see it I'm still ******* that Micheal Bay has made it. I read a review that suggested there is little or no character building.

Do you get StarScreams hatred of Megatron and confliction as to the Decepticon leadership come accross?
"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. I thought it was awesome, but if they had left out the annoying sector 7 agents and shown more of the Transformers as characters and had less camera shaking during the fight scenes, the film would have been epic.

Fun movie.

Exactly what you'd expect from a Summer action flick.

My only complaint was the excessive camera shaking during the fight scenes. It made those scenes a little frustrating and not as enjoyable as they should've been (for me, at least).

We saw it last night in the theaters. It was a good action film. The computer-generated special effects were breathtaking.

I have only one pet peeve about this movie. That dorky kid would never end up with the hot girl in real life, unless his family was rich. Clearly it's wish fulfillment for the target demographic, and the movie needs female eye candy for boys and men, but c'mon.

I think the message it sends to impressionable teenage male nerds everywhere is: No, honest! Ignore all the girls you have something in common with, and who might possibly be compatible with you. Just go for the hottie. You might actually have a shot! It's not like anything on the inside matters anyhow.

A 1978 Camaro turning into a giant, walking alien robot is a lot more plausible than Sam and Michaela hooking up.

Suspension of disbelief is required for any sci-fi movie, but the human beings need to act like normal people.

Not true. Half the foxes in my class preferred the nerds.

docm - Not true. Half the foxes in my class preferred the nerds.

Maybe they're catching on. Nerds have the best jobs, get paid better, are more stable partners and generally end up owning everything.

I put on my robe and wizard hat...

Look at it this way; even if a nerd only succeeds 5% of the time as long as he keeps trying at a rate of just 2 a week he might get 5 quality 'dates' a year, and thats not counting that one might want reruns

True story; my eldest son is a bit nerdy in that he's a total computer geek & an engineer. 6' tall, but no Mr. Universe with 20 extra pounds. Sound familiar? His bride-to-be is turned on by intelligence and a kind manner, not physicality. She's also a working model. See below.

My oldest son fits that same bill. He is a computer game programer, 5'11" and is carrying about 40 extra pounds. His GF is hot, hot, hot.

On the contrary, we are trying to show you that there is hope...even for a guy as deeply steeped in nerdom as yourself.

very nice docm, not quite what I meant. I'm not a geek obviously!!! but I've always managed to punch above my weight with girls when it comes to looks. I could of saved myself a lot of grief by not chasing the prettiest girl instead of the nicest, cleverest girl.
"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. You're also forgetting that the 'nerdy' kid in Transformers wasn't THAT nerdy... and of course, he was also friends with giant alien robots and well on his way to becoming incredibly famous... you know, after saving the planet and all.

I'd imagine he could have his choice of babes after that!

Quite true. Keith Richards alone is living proof that fame, vast wealth, and high social status can get you a beautiful girlfriend...even if your looks might seem to dictate otherwise.

So it does make sense, after all.
