Hello,

I am new to the forums and I am a new resident of Spain. My family bought a great Meade telescope before relocating and we would like to know a great place to use it. I was wondering if anyone knew of a great place in Spain, Portugal, or Southern France to view stars where there is not a lot of light pollution.

Gracias!

Welcome to Space.com.

If you are willing to travel that far, I'm sure there are plenty of options...I'll let those familiar with that part of the world give their advice.

All of the mentioned places are a dream for a astronomer location wise. Conditions are simply excellent, especially if you can rise to a hill or a mountain.

Costa Del Sol in Spain enjoys 300 starry nights a year. You should be able to drive to a hill or a mountain some 30 minutes away from major population centers and the sky will be yours to discover. Also ISS flies almost directly overhead.
