Klatuu, there are only a handful of habitual planets, the Earth is but one of them it cannot be waisted. Personally I liked both of them. And have them on DVD .
I added a bit more to my post. There are some really good sci-fi flicks that came later, but those two are special because I was a kid when I first saw them. They had a profound effect on me. One other sci-fi flick rarely shown was a cult favorite among people my age because it involved teenagers. It was called 'Invasion of the Saucer Men." It was more humorous than scary, but those were among the scariest aliens I've ever seen.Klatuu, there are only a handful of habitual planets, the Earth is but one of them it cannot be waisted. Another one of my favorites right along with 'Invasion of the Saucer Men.' Both movies were about teenagers discovering an alien invader. How many here remember The Blob. With Steve Mc Queen.
Older people like me prefer the originals. It's a nostalgia trip for us. I remember those old cars. Sure, the special effects are better in newer sci-fi flicks, but they don't have the same appeal. They are both my favourites. I prefer the remake.

Why did you like Passengers? I heard it was more a space soap opera than science? Maybe I heard wrong..
Call me stereotypical, but Star Wars is awesomeI personally am a space lover and recently was trying to catch up with new sci-fi movies which include space missions and certainly not over-dramatic. But unfortunately, couldn't find any. Therefore, my question.
