My opinion: The USSF must first do the research and development to adopt humans psychologically and physically for travel in space as well as for doing any planned/hoped for future extraterrestrial settlements. The Japanese Code of Bushido is an example of the discipline that will be needed. Note: Conflicts with other Earth nations seem inevitable; that's the way H. Sapiens is. Thus, given the Evolutionary matrix of humans, without such knowledge, discipline and training, failure will result for off planet efforts. The USSF should be a scientific as well as military effort that would contribute to the off planet survival of H. Sapiens and/or an H. Sapiens replacement species, given that Evolution is "kind enough" to provide such. Otherwise, the USSF will be just another "push and shove" group with an attitude and a nationalistic agenda.

It is quite exciting to see renewed interest in space programs and its technology. I would like to see more involvement of space-related activities in our all of our daily lives. Children, especially should be given the chance to learn more about space and the opportunities it offers as a career choice.

Space is, after all, our future. 🌀

Space Force should be for something like what the coast guard does. Rescue missions, clearing dangerous space debris, helping stranded astronauts, and as an aside, monitoring the universe on behalf of scientific endeavors. Perhaps even live streaming interesting space phenomena down to earth from a stable orientation, like LaGrange One. Live streaming passing asteroids, interesting passerbys like Oumuamua, planetary oppositions and so on.

USSF should work on tasks providing logicists for science and techical missions that will be needed to get the next station, moon, or mars projects completed.

As the Space Force of the most influential nation on the planet, I will like to see the USSF focus on spearheading a coordinated space commitments in the following areas:
1. Prioritize on the peaceful use of outer by all nation states.
2. Take a lead of all nations states in space for a global/universal space debris clearing program. As the safety of life and social cooexistance of humanity on Earth, regardless of region is at stake as long as the debris remain in space. Addtionally, The USSF could lead the way towards establishing a Global Space Force that would saddle with responsibility of protecting planet earth from extraterrestrial objects intrusion. Just like the astroid that destroyed/killed Dinosaurs 65 million of years ago, we are currently anticipating similar interstellar objects like Oumuamua, that will be intruding the Solar System. Such threat will require a global force in terms of resources and manpower to fight it. Hence the need for immediate creation of one. Its more apparently evident in the quote of a famous American astronomer Carl Segan
"All civilization become either spacefaring oe extict"
3. An American astronomer, astrophysicist, astrobiologist and author; Carl Edward Sagan once said: "It is, I think, only a matter of Natual Selection, If we become even slightly more violent, shortsighted, ignorant, and selfish than we are now, almost certainly we will have no future." Based on this statement, I strongly hope to see that our international rivalries, competitions, as well as diplomatic hostilities be completely disregarded as far as space is concerned. This will help ensure lasting peace among us, as most of the international challenges we face today on earth were majorly attributed to those factors. If taken to space similar outcome is assured. The USSF could set a very good example on this by ensuring that battles and wars are not taken up into space.
4. The USSF shall also consider conducting research that would profer space based solutuions that will adress the lingering dangerous environmental threats we face on the planet today. Such include global warming/climatic change, deforestation/forest degradation, illegal/uncontrolled wild life trade as well as bycatch among several others. Stability of each of these has in a greater effect, a role that assure our lasting livehood on the planet. Addressing them will ensure adequate protection to our fragile planet, the only home we ever had.
5. Carl Sagan also said: "The Earth is the only world known so far to harbour life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit? Yes. Settle? Not yet. Like it or not, for the moment, the Earth is where we make our stand. It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience..............Consider again that dot (Earth). That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there - on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam." Considering how fragile the planet we call HOME is, exploring other worlds is inevitable; though it employs precisely the same qualities of daring, planning, cooperative enterprise, and valor that mark the finest in military tradition. I there fore hope to see the USSF embark on space exploration activities that would lead to discovery of other habitable planets to life, no matter how far away they may seem. With a purposefull research in alternate transportation medium to propulsion, which I believe do exist; we shall accomplish even something more impobable especially as our very own existence is at stake. We will find ourselves able to rise to this supreme challenge.

Since Space is the new high ground, the USSF most secure the U.S.'s position as a world power in Space; protecting our space resources, enabling efficient transportation outside the Earth's atmosphere and collaborating with other countries to make space exploration a collaborative effort.

I'd like to see the Space Force work on removing dead satellites, and other debris from orbit, to work on detection and tracking of hypersonic vehicles, and work on new and different propulsion systems for better speeds to get to distant planets or destinations quicker, and cheaper costs. Adding in that the security of the nation and allies of this world from rogue nations who might launch nuclear weapons should always be a mission as the fate of mankind could rely on us NOT wiping ourselves out. Best wishes to all, and all nations.

I believe that, in the very near future, USSF will need additional 'buy-in' from the general public that does not quite grasp the need for space exploration. They only see the 'glamour' and the failures and pay little attention to the in between. USSF should create and publish educational propaganda to post that illustrates the benefits that we, as mankind, have obtained from space exploration and will hopefully attain in the future. There is much more to this than the cool factor. People need to know that this isn't just doing it because we can. We are journeying down this road to save mankind. This is all just my humble opinion and nothing more. I continue to be amazed more and more as I watch the USSF work toward occupying Mars. How incredible is that? Gob bless and Godspeed.

I think the Space Force should focus first on the secure, safe, and collaborative commercialization of space. Part of that mission necessarily includes removing orbital debris, as other posters have mentioned. It also includes protecting our satellite operations from hostile nations and actors and natural disasters like solar storms and meteors, i.e. space weather. It should also lay the foundations toward colonization and migration to living in space. While this was instituted as a military organization, steps should be put in place and - like NASA - ensure the technologies developed are eventually shared to enrich the lives of the rest of us here on Earth. Its initial purpose is to protect the United States' space interests, but it should also establish leadership, be a good example for other nations, and help us find a path to a future that won't have hostile people to protect us from.

I think the USSF should focus on satellite security (hacking and espionage) and providing a system like the StarLink satellites that have an onboard computer for debris avoidance and collision with other satellites. Also, they should focus on having a clan map and spots left for LEO satellites, as it's expected that every year the number of satellites in LEO (low earth orbit) will be more than double.

When the lander undocks from the rover, it leaves with the remaining fuel, I read. What will happen to him next? Is it becoming space junk? We need to invent enough fuel to get us back to Earth. In order not to clog the space and not to lose equipment.
