People outside the US often write Nasa;
For me it´s a shame. NASA is an acronym. It must be written in caps lock. What do the americans think? Am I right?

Well spotted, Ace.

Annoys a lot of us...so much so one of our users wrote to the BBC and got this back:

"The BBC's policy is to write acronyms in lower case letters - hence Nasa, Nato etc. Acronyms which cannot be pronounced as words (orinitialisms are they're sometimes called) - CIA, FBI, RAF etc - are spelled with capitals. It may not be something that everyone agrees with, but at least someone here has put some thought into coming up with a decision. In fact in the UK, other respected media such as the Times and Telegraph newspapers follow the same format. Best wishes, Ian Jolly NewsWatch"

I'm British and a journalist and there's no way in hell that I'll write Nasa.

I visited Johnson Space Center once and was probably the only one who got a kick out of the Advanced Space Suit (no pun intended). You have to wonder if NASA employs someone to make up all the acronyms these use.

On a side note, I did not know that NASA refered to the Commander as the C-D-R or the pilot as the P-L-T until reading Riding Rockets (highly recommended reading).
