Finally! It took them long enough, but the Sci-Fi Channel, which once described the series as "lacking", has finally realized its merits. American viewers, tune in to the Sci-Fi Channel at 9PM Eastern time (alas, 10PM for me in Minnesota) on Friday, March 17!

Here's the complete list of broadcasters for the new series:

Australia: ABC
Belgium: een
Canada (English): CBC
Canada (French dub): Ztele
Denmark: broadcaster unknown
Eastern Hemisphere (Europe, Africa, Mideast): BBC Prime
Europe: BBC Prime
Finland: TV2
France: France 4
Germany (German dub): ProSieben
Hong Kong: ATV World
Hungary: RTLKlub
Israel: Yes Weekend
Italy: Jimmy
Middle East: Style UK (Showtime Arabia)
Netherlands: Nederland 3
New Zealand: Prime TV
North Africa: Style UK (Showtime Arabia)
Norway: NRK2
South Korea: KBS2
Spain: People + Arts (Digital Plus)
Sweden: SVT
United Kingdom: BBC1, BBC3, UK Gold, BFBS (UK military)
United States: Sci-Fi Channel

Alas, this has irritatingly delayed the DVD release even further. The DVD will not be released in the US until July! The NTSC Region 1 DVD may however be released in Canada next month.

EDIT: I just found out that Spain got the new series too.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Christmas Invasion (ep1 of NEW season 2) should be good, have downloaded it but finding time to watch it is the problem.

Prefer bit torrenting it than waiting for Prime TV to air it 2 or 3 months.

It was fun. Should've been longer, though. They didn't really have enough time to do all the character development the story really needed. It felt rushed, much as "Rose" did. That's the main thing I prefer about the old series -- you never got a story only 45 minutes long. The shortest ones (apart from rare one-parters like "The Feast of Stephen") were 50 minutes (two 25-minute episodes), and those were rare enough. Most were four-parters. It really let them take their time with the stories, and I liked that.

Oh well. It's definitely still Who, and that's the main thing.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Sounds like you’re just as impatient with your local television networks as I, and are downloading the show as well. Viva la Internët, particularly P2p.

Finishing my basement. It killed my network connection for over a week.

However, according to Outpost Gallifrey, the announcement was made on January 12, so how did you know about it weeks ago? What inside sources do you have? Inquiring minds want to know! (Okay, I'll be honest: inquiring minds want more inside scoops!)

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Calli,

Yea, many of us were wondering where you were, and why you were so silent on a subject so close to your heart.

But if you look on the threads about the date of 1/13, you will find someone has beat you to it. You were thought of, even if not by name. But many of us knew who was talked about.

That was only last week, not weeks ago.....how on Earth did I miss that one? I have been rather busy at work, though, as I've just transitioned onto a new project. So that probably did it. Oh well. I'll let this one die now.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Well, maybe weeks was a bit of an exaggeration...

LINK

I was just surprised that you got scooped on this one. Now we learn that you suffered a net loss while digging your bottom line...

Amazon.com summary:

PLOT OUTLINE: The adventures of an eccentric renegade time traveling alien and his companions.
PLOT SYNOPSIS: The Doctor is a renegade Time Lord: an eccentric, highly-intelligent scientist from a distant planet. He travels through time and space in the TARDIS, a curious device, larger on the inside than on the outside, which was designed to change its appearance to suit its surroundings. Unfortunately, the Doctor's TARDIS seems to be broken, and always appears as a blue British police (phone) box. The Doctor has a soft spot for the planet Earth, and often visits there, either to save it from various alien threats or to whisk a choice few inhabitants away to the distant parts of the galaxy to help him fight evil there. The Doctor has many foes, including Daleks (led by Davros), and The Master, another renegade Time Lord. Time Lord biology enables them to regenerate their bodies, and so both the Doctor and the Master appear to evolve over the years...

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/102-1585476-1340131?url=index%3Ddvd&search-type=quick-search&field-keywords=doctor+who

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CNESV2/qid=1138517869/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-1585476-1340131?s=dvd&v=glance&n=130

One Percent of Federal Funding For Space: America CAN Afford it!! LEO is a Prison -- It's time for a JAILBREAK!!

I do hope you are not going to say you have never heard of him? But maybe my age may be showing. I first saw him as a series on the PBS channel years ago. Several guys in our church were fans and got me to watch it was well. My favorite was the old man, and also the young man with the long scarf. I also found some of his novels after that and enjoyed them as well.

Anyone, how did you like the turn of the century movie about him a few years back. I did not think it was all that good, but it did bring him back into the forefront of things though. It was set in 1999 as the century changed, and he had to do another tranformation to continue living.

Speaking of feeling old, how many remember baby Jessica being rescued from that small well hole in Texas? Just heard she turned 19, and got married recently. I guess time does move on, even if we don't think about it, or want to, for that matter.

I'll date myself. I remember watching Star Trek - the original series - as a kid.

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

Yevaud,

Yea, I also remember not being that interested in it until they said they were going to take it off air, and many people objected. That caused me to want to watch it. But it wasn't until the next series came out that I truly got into the series. But I really objected that ST could not be ST without Spock and Kirk. But then I thought I really should give it a try on its own merits, and it became my favorite of the series.

But you reminded me of another series, the man from UNCLE. I was in Junior Hi school, and that in itself dates a person, when it was on, 8th grade to be specific.

But back to the proper thread thot, how do you think they would today deal with that machinical dog one of the doctors had back then? What was his name, K-9 wasn't it? That would be interesting to see how they would handle that, or is he just another bygone era and icon.

He left the series in 1981, but is being brought back this year for one episode together with Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen). I'm not joking...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/gallery/k9/800/k9_01.jpg

tohaki,

Yes, I do find that interesting. K-9 was boxy and truly machinical for the time, and I think,(or would hope), that they could do more with him now, or would that be destroying the identity of him?

Now, if we in the states here would be able to see it. Also, I like your quote from the doctor. I also find that fits "life" as well, or as someone has said, Life is what happens to you while you are making other plans.

K-9 will be returning for a cameo -- along with Sarah Jane Smith -- in the second season. The BBC released a publicity still. He's looking slightly the worse for wear; a bit of rust here and there, as one might expect after twenty-odd years. I'm really looking forward to that one, although I don't know how quickly Sci-Fi will run that after the BBC does.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Surely K-9 is made of some flash-harry non-corrosive metal ... the absolute cheek of it!!

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!
