According to Outpost Gallifrey:

Rumors have circulated today based on posts on the Restoration Team forum concerning a possible deal with NBC/Universal, who own the Sci-Fi Channel and USA Network, for broadcast of the new series, potentially with the Sci-Fi Channel as first broadcaster and USA as syndicators, which would include the entire back catalog of Doctor Who serials. While there is no official word confirming this, it's the first indication in some time of a possible deal for US broadcast of the new show. Stay tuned!

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

"potentially with the Sci-Fi Channel as first broadcaster and USA as syndicators"

does that explain what they are doing with the new Battlestar Galactica?

The only laws of matter are those which our minds must fabricate, and the only laws of mind are fabricated for it by matter.
--- James Clerk Maxwell

Strongly urge you to consider a model with a hard drive built in to the DVD recorder. Vastly easier to edit out the 23 minutes per hour of commercials with a hard drive. My customers with DVD recorders w/o hard drive don't like finished result. Longevity of some of the early models questionable, so would further suggest not getting a used one. I have Directv with Tivo and a Pana. unit with a HDD, love the power of this. Make several DVDs a week. Buy blank media in bulk, 50 or 100 at a time. Blank DVD cheaper than video tape now, and in some places, easier to find. Amazing how fast VCR is headed to trash heap of history, I only have 3 still connected to system. Heard (from a customer of course) that porn not even being released on tape by big distributors anymore.

Anyhow, back to Dr. Who, IPTV still running a couple of segments per week. Will let SDC know when/if anything changes. If they do pull the Dr. off IPTV, wouldn't mind seeing Blake's 7 again.

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

Blake's 7 - now there was a series. Didn't virtually everyone die at the end though? Too bad. That'd make it awfully hard to resurrect it.

BTW - Calli, Leo: Hiya. Eh. I've been around, on and off. Just not much. The economy really hammered me, so I moved around, did a lot of contract work around the country, etc. All stable now, though.

Well. As stable as I ever was, that is...

--Yev

"Why do the call an anagram an anagram, when the word 'anagram' isn't one?"

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

Cool. I'm glad things are working out again.

BTW, on your quote:
"Why do the call an anagram an anagram, when the word 'anagram' isn't one?"

There was an excellent Dr Who Missing Adventure novel called "Managra". The title is, of course, an anagram of anagram.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Alas, there is bad news on this front. Sci Fi Channel has officially decided to pass on it. They saw a few advance episodes and apparently found it "lacking", though no details are available. This could mean they are haggling (to get the BBC to lower the price) or that they are concerned it would unfairly compete with their home-grown stable of shows and made-for-cable movies. Or it could mean they just didn't want to run it. In any case, Sci Fi is currently not interested.

No word on whether that statement applies to all of NBC/Universal (their parent company) or just the Sci Fi Channel.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Some minor I-hope-its-news on this front: according to Outpost Gallifrey, there are rumors of an announcement regarding a US broadcaster as early as April. I'm not holding my breath, personally, but it would be very nice.

There is no word on whether or not the planned DVD release of the new season will be released for Region 1. The UK release will be a staggered series of four releases starting in the summer, followed by a super-duper box set (in some sort of TARDIS-themed box, perhaps like the TARDIS tin that the VHS Trial of a Time Lord set was released in) with lots of extras. If American fans are considering buying the UK DVDs for their region-free players, I recommend waiting until October.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"
