Further nitpicking it IS, then!

I was insulted by an opening scene showing Archer in a meeting with his senior officers in which he alone was in uniform while the rest of them were in casual attire.

I'm also bothered by the plethora of potential and semi-developed storylines that multiply with each episode. It's as if budgetary constraints mandate the reuse of costumes, and to provide a store of stock ideas from which the pool of hack writers may draw.

Take this latest story built around Brent Spiner. The producers will see a spike in viewership/ratings as a natural result of a cameo appearance. Obviously they're hoping that they can somehow ween legions of prodigal fans back to the Star Trek "family" (), thereby saving the series, before they have to start paying Spiner BIG $$$ by keeping him on full-time.

By the way, I'm getting bored by the use of pyrotechnics going off beneath the control panels. The kind of damage that represents would cause all systems to go down. I think a better "special effect" would be to show weapon hits on the outer hull translating into ionized bolts within pressurized compartments which fry individual crewmen into horrific lumps of smoking charred flesh. Leave the equipment ALONE, however!
