I thought the episode was generally ok...I mean if you want to nit pick, you can do it with any show, not just Enterprise.
Of course, was disappointed that not long after they leave the dock fully repaired, they are blasted up again, seems the upgrades are long overdue! Even the Klingon Bird Of Prey out gunned them badly..sigh...just look at its rapid rate of fire!

To Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before...

Live Long and Prosper

I just saw the re-run of Borderland tonight and I have to say that it was quite good, I enjoyed it. After the two previous dismal episodes, this one intrigued me with it's theme on genetic engineering (loved the reference to Nietzche!). I guess that shouldn't be a surprise for someone who's favourite ST movie was Wrath of Khan.

Further nitpicking it IS, then!

I was insulted by an opening scene showing Archer in a meeting with his senior officers in which he alone was in uniform while the rest of them were in casual attire.

I'm also bothered by the plethora of potential and semi-developed storylines that multiply with each episode. It's as if budgetary constraints mandate the reuse of costumes, and to provide a store of stock ideas from which the pool of hack writers may draw.

Take this latest story built around Brent Spiner. The producers will see a spike in viewership/ratings as a natural result of a cameo appearance. Obviously they're hoping that they can somehow ween legions of prodigal fans back to the Star Trek "family" (), thereby saving the series, before they have to start paying Spiner BIG $$$ by keeping him on full-time.

By the way, I'm getting bored by the use of pyrotechnics going off beneath the control panels. The kind of damage that represents would cause all systems to go down. I think a better "special effect" would be to show weapon hits on the outer hull translating into ionized bolts within pressurized compartments which fry individual crewmen into horrific lumps of smoking charred flesh. Leave the equipment ALONE, however!

hahaha....:) seems trekkies/trekkers cover a wide range of interests as far as their expectations of the series is concerned.
I noticed that unlike TOS where Spock was practically indestructible due to his tougher Vulcan physique, T'Pol seems much more vulnerable even though Spock is supposed to be the half human...mmm..I guess these kind of observations can go forever! :))))

To Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before...

Live Long and Prosper

Spock could be captured when the plot required it.

speaking of T'pol, I have missed a huge number of episodes of enterprise (it's hard to be a regular of that show) and I have questions:

So t'pol is married? How did that happen? The last I checked she was getting quite friendly with Trip.

And what happened with the Xindi?

And what about the temporal cold war (please tell me that one is over)?

Anything else? I need to catch up.

T'pol married some dude on Vulcan basically for political reasons. Just before she walked to the Vulcan alter, she kissed trip on the cheek.

The Xindi were made to realize that the sphere builders were tricking them and made peace with Earth, except the reptilians, they tried to deploy the weapon anyways but it was destroyed.

The Temporal cold war is over as the main bad dude was defeated in 1940's Earth, and the timeline was returned to normal.

Hostilities with the Klingon Empire is now eminent... An Ancestor to Data's maker, Dr Soong took embrio's sealed up from the Eugenics wars and further genetically enhanced them, They were able to steal a Klingon Bird of Prey and jetisoned the crew into space.
Don't let your sig line incite a gay thread ;>)

Or his Brain removed in one epissode! but usually he can endure much better than his "human" crew and always last the longest too...how come T'Pol is not like that?
I did not watch DS9 or Voyager. Is Tuvak also like this?

To Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before...

Live Long and Prosper

After Archer made the right decision of who to trust and the real bad dudes were defeated, Archer appeared in front of Daniels again. There was a wall sized monitor like device behind him, Pictures of Earth history scrolling past, and it was said that the timeline is restoring it's self. Archer and the whole crew then found themselves on the Bridge of Enterprise in orbit around 22nd Century Earth in the correct time line.
Don't let your sig line incite a gay thread ;>)

Did they remember that the temporal cold war existed or did it "never exist"?

Uhhh apparently the temporal cold war did exist but it's over and everyone that died is still dead and everyone still remembers. Earth still has a big slash through Florida and the crew of the Enterprise are all big heroes but humans have become big xenophobes as they've waited for destruction by the Xindi, thus the Vulcans stay in their compound these days and Phlox is afraid to go down and get his egg drop soup. Vulcans appreciate not having their planet enveloped by the expanse even if they blew up a ship filled with Vulcan zombies. Archer has a new girlfriend that happens to be the captain of the NX-02. I'd be very happy if we ended the season without another temporal plot.

No they remember, Trip asked Archer what Daniels said. Remember that no one back at Vulcan high command or Starfleet truly believes this temporal cold war but they went with this hunch about the Xindi and the expanse. Now the writers are forgetting the temporal plot, you don't even hear it mentioned. I like it, lets get back to exploring the galaxy.

What did everybody think of tonight's episode. Pretty damn good, and it looks like this will be 3-part mini-series or perhaps even longer.

I thought it was great. They were able to combine a compelling story with some thought-provoking questions about the ethics of genetic engineering. The episode really kept me interested, and the show successfully avoided framing the moral issues in a patronizing or simplistic manner.

Bravo!

The Augments may be physically enhanced, but their human frailties still shine though; they're just as likely to kill each other as normal humans are.

I was very happy that the doctor didn't cave in under pressure when his colleague was subjected to torture. I was equally ticked off when he caved in immediately when Phlox was put in. Of course, now he has to know that the first guy died for nothing.

Yeah, its a 3-parter. Part 3 - The Augments, will be on friday.

I've really enjoyed the first 2 parts, excellent. The next arc will be a Vulcan trilogy. Excellent.
The first guy in the chamber was his rival, so he figured what the hell. Phlox was his friend. (-;

I like the way the last part provided the basis for the eventual introduction of Data...that was cool!
Only one flaw though...Singh's descentdant Noonien Singh is supposed to eventully create Data but how do you procreate if you are locked up forever in a cell....don't tell me...Orion's Match making service?? :)

To Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before...

Live Long and Prosper

It sounds like he manages to get out once in a while. On one of those excursions, he probably either gets lucky or clones himself. I like the cloning idea because that would explain the family resemblence. I mean, after all, who among us is a twin of our father, eh?

At the end of the episode, Malek gets blasted leaving a nice clean hole through him. Now this looked to me that it was dead center of the spine in which case the upper part of the torso should have collapsed down on the lower part without a backbone to hold it up. Also, I don't think such a shot would kill instantly unless it went through the heart. But it looked like it was a bit lower than that -- I'd have to rerun the recording to make sure. What I'd expect is that the collapse would happen as before and of course he'd be paralyzed from the hole down. He might pass out from shock. I think the hole boundaries might be cauterized from the blast so that you wouldn't have blood all over the place.

I guess I'm just over-analyzing it.

Last night's SNL was a lot of fun -- I especially liked the parrot sketch. And WU is getting better.

But I digress. I did enjoy the Enterprise episode -- I never miss one. Why do you think I didn't have fun watching it? Part of the fun is analyzing the episode.
