Even more work will need to be done beyond that (by businesses) to allow humans to really enjoy living in such a hostile place.

The more I think about space realistically the less I feel like we should go into space and do these things for the simple coolness factor of it. The more I think about space realistically the happier I am that we have this challenging frontier to conquer... an opportunity to demonstrate our ingenuity and adaptability.

While I'm at it... some more brain candy: some new physics (as I predicted in an earlier thread ) hints towards a time of propellentless propulsion. This is BIG. Like a coil of wire with a current generates an EM field, its seems that a spinning super conductor with current similarly generates a gravity field, in their setup producing about 0.00000001 (1/100million) that of g! Let's make a bigger one!!

http://www.physorg.com/news12054.html

/fixed it, thanks
