steve
Did you read my post before you suggested him to read the flower thread or was it a coincidence?

"We will either find a way, or make one!" - Hannibal

For my own enlightenment, I will do exactly that. Ought to be an interesting case-study.

One day, I may end up teaching classes at the College level. If so, I hope I won't get anyone like ES.

But I know I will...

Back shortly...gonna go eat some lunch and throw some glassware at the wall...muttering...

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

I thought I recognized the name from before. Yevaud. I remember project orion too. He came back several times and spammed the boards with porn. Finally some one got his personal info and went after him. He soon stopped.
It is nice to see some one with a true science background on here especially in this forum. I love to come in now and then and whack these kooks on a common sense level but doing it on an educated level is so much more interesting to watch. I especially like the way you disassembled "nonsense's" claims of being educated in physics. With one post you laid bare his inadequate understanding of even the most basic theories discussed in an issue of Discover magazine. He is probably devising his new name and personal info right now so he can leave this obliterated incarnation to the ash heap and resurrect as some new intellectual expert on the obscure and imagined.

Wait, wait!

That's the first I hear of Orion being behind the crash! Ok, back.

Umm, the PO link is rumor only. I'll have to ask around...

And you know, there are people on SDC - past and present - who I don't even remotely hold a candle to. I have learned a lot from them, which has a lot to do with why I came back.

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

Oh my Great Ghu. If anything, his "blue flowers" thread was worse than this one.

Ah, well. What do you want for a weenie culty who thinks the Raelians are going to come and get us? BOO!

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

Yevaud

Hi,
Well, two things: 1. Indeed there are some brilliant people here. It is just difficult sometimes to differentiate those who "talk the talk" from those who "walk the walk" (where is a_lost_packet, by the way?).

2. Regarding the raelians: I think you confused two members here. Extrasense is not a raelian, he is just (fill you favorite word here).
The raelian is kmarina, who is actually a pretty nice and clever young guy who unfortunately has "some issues". Specifically, the rael cult.

Regards
arit

"We will either find a way, or make one!" - Hannibal

Ah. My mistake. Yes, it doesget difficult, trying to seperate individuals from the herd.

Mind you, I'm pretty damned open-minded, if a natural-born skeptic. I'll listen to anyone, until they either prove their point or they don't. Hell, there's a lot of topics I know squat about, and if I don't know, I'll usually shut up and try to absorb. Or go out and try to learn about it.

And thanks for the pointer. I won't point the finger at anyone, unless they deserve it. Maybe not even then.

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

So I'm expected to believe that the rover takes a snapshot of a pyramid at distance and then goes on its merry way to look at pebbles?

WERE it a pyramid, I'd be inclined to believe the folks at JPL might go in for a closer look.

Maybe you can answer that for me, extrasence. Cause I sure don't understand why we'd pass on without closer examination.
"2012.. Year of the Dragon!! Get on the Dragon Wagon!".

So you're telling me that JPL would just completely disregard the opportunity to confirm the greatest discovery ever in the history of mankind?

I'm not buying it. It would be in their best interest to investigate. Why? The manned space program would get a boost of epic proportions.

I'd say NASA has a vested interest in PROVING any and or all extraterrestrial life indications.

Or are you postulating that the government told them to move along and ignore it?
"2012.. ES to Yevaud "Could You Take Your Gossip Column Somewhere from This Thread, Please "

What Yevaud has said is science. Gossip would more likely involve blue flowers and pyramids and snake rocks.
Let me get this straight. All NASA engineers, scientists, PHD's, biologists are imbiciles and you are the one who is really smart. hmmmm... Could have fooled me.
From that I estimate that the object is about 270 feet from the rover and about 1.25 feet high. Seems a bit on the puny side for a Great Pyramid. It does look like a pyramid, but I'm afraid it's actually a jagged rock at the top of a hill or crater rim.

Maybe the Martians are very small...

Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find and not to yeild. - Tennyson

My estimate is that the object is 22 cm high.

It is still a pyramid
It's a rock.

A pointy rock, but a rock none the less.

By the way, if the "Great Pyramid of Mars" is just 22 cm high (by your own estmates), does that mean the Martians are 2.5 mm tall? That'd be about the same ratio for the Great Pyramid (on Earth) to an average human.

Just curious.

God help me, I don't know why, but I am.
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find and not to yeild. - Tennyson
