Guidelines for Posting Commercial or Promotional Messages
These guidelines are here to assist you in your decision to post commercial and/or promotional messages in the Space.com forums.
First, User Announcements is the appropriate place on this site for posting "Announcements and promotions from our users."
Established users can promote themselves in User Announcements. To be an "Established user", you will have contributed at least 50 non-promotional discussion posts in the community.
Posting promotional stuff for a first post is not acceptable, whether it's personal or not. If you do choose to promote yourself or your product in your first post, it will be assigned for review by the moderators/admins. You will be sent a PM reminding you of our policy. You are free to participate throughout the forum as a regular user, but until you are established by writing legit posts (not just "wow that is so interesting."), you can't promote.
If you are really, really interested in posting something that could truly benefit the community, you will need to go through the Community Manager, and she will post about it. This applies especially to events - planetarium, skywatching, expos and such.
Commercial spam for cellulite cream, online dating, HDTV, and anything that is obviously commercial is not allowed at all. The user will be immediately banned and the post removed.
