I'm positively dying to hear your opinions about David Tennant as the Doctor.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Not bad, I imagine the sales people at Sony are happy, the Vaio got one hell of a product placement.

They just finished airing it on the CBC here about half an hour ago. Very good episode, felt it took about half an hour to get going, but that might have just been me after 6 months without watching the Doctor.

Ok, I managed to watch this thanks to the good folk on Bittorrent. I think I liked Christopher Eccleston more, but David Tennant had a fairly minor part in this episode (the Dr was still regenerating), so I'll need a couple more episodes to get into him.

Anyhow IMHO the best Dr was the first, he was a crotchety old grump but hey he was great.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Wanna see this site looking like the old SDC uplink?

Go here to see how: SDC Eye saver

Hartnell will always be the First Doctor.

He had some lovely lines too. He gets a bad rap sometimes for fluffing his lines, but given the schedule pressures they were under, it's really no surprise; sometimes they barely got a single read-through before they had to perform. He did a wonderful job of holding up for year after year until his health was too poor to continue.

My favorite line from him would be his good-bye to Susan, the first regular to leave the series. Here it is from memory, so please pardon any errors:

"One day, I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no tears, no regrets. Only go forward in all your beliefs, and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine."

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Yep, he was the beginning and the core of all Doctors who followed, wasn't he?

I always thought that Pertwee most closely followed him, e.g. as in personality. Somewhat codgy, persnickity, but surprising the hell out of you here and there. More, well, effete though.

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

I was too young to see much of Hartnell and my Dr. Who awareness started with Troughton, although I vaguely remember Hartnell from re-runs. I really liked Pertwee however - together with Tom Baker my two clear favourites. I like the old codger in the 60s movie Dr. Who and the daleks as well.

If I'm not mistaken, the "Old Codger" was in fact Hartnell. Or possibly not. Drawing somewhat of a blank here, and I've seen it before. Calli!!!

Mind you, I'm not *that* old, and so saw Hartnell in reruns in the 70's and 80's and 90's.

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

Thank you. I couldn't for the life of me remember.

Age...and working for a living...does that to you.

Doesn't have anything to do with drug abuse as a teenager, nooooo.....

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."
