Is there no sigs on the new board? Not that it's a big deal because we traded a hell of a lot of bad stuff for good stuff, i'm just wondering.

Also, i've been getting an "internal server error" screen a few times. Is that just due to more kinks being worked out? Site is moving extremely fast...

Well, it's about time :D

This is already a major improvement over Pluck. Hopefully, we'll see traffic pick up and this place will return to its former glory.

Thanks, SDC/Imaginova for listening and responding.

OK, html still doesn't work unless I'm missing something, but there's BBCode. I can live with that.

Can I assume images will have to be hosted somewhere else? That's about the only thing I liked about Pluck.

OK, just noticed the Code button. Will have to check that out.

Nice.

Later.

What's a KiB? I can't my Avatar to work and it says something like "has to be below 39 Kib". The Avatar is below 39 KBs, but i don't even know what a KiB is and couldn't find one in the image properties...

Sigs are coming.

The internal server error is happening intermittently, but enough. It's on my report list for the product manager.

I tried a couple of animatroid avatars and they seemed to work, if sized properly. (first one I tried was pretty funny, but not terribly couth . . . )

I've tried several animgif's who all met the file size and dimension limits and all failed.

Avatars and some pictures in posts randomly fail to load. e.g. Docm's avatar didn't show (even reloading it manually in browser) in one thread I visited before this one, and loads fine in this one.
edit- I just edited this post and docm's avatar again fails to load.

At least some of the "latest post" dates are wrong in the forum index are wrong. Space Tech & Biz shows last post dated sometime in 2004, when the actual latest post (that you can see once you open the forum) is from a couple of days ago.

This thread shows some kind of formatting error, maybe caused by the html in Summoner's post. It looks like his weather sig is what triggers it, but then I'm no specialist :p

I'm liking what I see as well. Many thanks to all involved with the move to a real BB software!
******, looks like our post counts have shrunk considerably (mines minus ~2000)

This may be just a personal 'thing' with me, but I prefer the avatars etc. on the left and not the right....maybe because that's the way most other forums I'm on are set up.

Also; about an hour ago I posted to Open then selected the root forum and it went into a loop....never getting to the page. Had to click on my FF shortcut to get back there.

PS: tried to Submit this thread and got the server error again. Trying again....

Yeah, I just noticed that I've got about half my Infopoop/Pluck Era posts.

BTW, it sure took a long time to get to this page.

thankyou thankyou!

I tried to post a thank you last night, but it crashed on me, hehe. I'd rather have an easy-on-the-eyes program with a cupla bugs than what we went through this past year!!

Oh my gawd!!! The first unread post function works!!!

All is right with the world again.

Not to mention, if I leave the 'post a reply' page and come back to it later, my post is still there waiting for me to submit.

Hey! This is pretty nice.

Yes, these phpBB forums are very nice. THANK YOU !

I also note on the Pluck website that they continue to trumpet their 'success' with these forums:
No stranger to incorporating social elements into their Web properties, Imaginova had distinct forum functionality on Space.com prior to partnering with Pluck. Recognizing the value of integrating all community features into a single platform, Imaginova commissioned Pluck to migrate existing discussions (more than half a million posts) into SiteLife Forums which is now distributed across Space.com, LiveScience.com and Aviation.com and search engine optimized (SEO). Additionally, users now have the added benefit of single sign-on across the sites, made possible only through SiteLife's unmatched cross-site integration capabilities.

Petlylene ( ),

I'm having some problems accessing the administrative area. Once I can get into it, I will look into your username/login/identity issues. I'm sorry it's taking so long, this is just another bug we're working on.

I'm glad you like the new forums. Thanks to all for the feedback, positive and negative. Keep posting your bugs in the official feedback forum, too! Our head developer is keeping an eye on that, just so you know. :ugeek:

dh,

I'm having to login every time I come to the forums, even though I check the box that asks if I want to stay logged on until I logoff.

When the forums came back on yesterday I couldn't remember my password because I had been logged on since the start of the Pluck Era. I kept trying things until something worked, but it was a little frustrating.

That's not a problem now, but I would rather not have to deal with logging in every time.

Thanks for the change.

I can't tell if a subforum has new posts from the main index page, unless I hold the cursor over its name for a popup to say "new posts".

Oh, I do have one other thing to say -- in the way of an idle bit of speculation.

This software exceeds the Pluck stuff's functionality by an order of magnitude or two. And if I were a betting man (which I actually am, on occasion), I'd bet that it costs Imaginova less than half as much to use it.

If this were true, then it would be what the boys back home call yer basic win-win. :D

I'd just like to say thanks for whomever got this forum back up. Was very unhappy when I found it was gone and from what I could tell on the ol' google it was because of business problems with the company that ran it.

Best place to get detailed information on the space program.. thanks!
