Spirit seems to have landed in a much nicer area than Opportunity.

Edit: But then I saw the last two pictures and realized that was not in fact the case.

"Spirit seems to have landed in a much nicer area than Opportunity...then I saw the last two pictures and realized that was not in fact the case."

Well, IMO, Spirit's views of the Columbia Hills are visually more interesting than the flat Meridiani Planum as seen from Oppy. However, the views of Endurance Crater trumped Columbia Hills. Maybe the view from atop Husband Hill will beat that.

It's all good .

-------------------------------------------------------

Spirit, Sol 378 (L3, L5 & L6 filters):

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. With due credit and appreciation to TheChemist for the link he provided in another thread, I have made available a few full sized images, here, here, here and here (warning for those of you with dial-up -- the last one is about 1Mb). At least I hope they're available.

Anyway, I'll be out of town until Monday evening so won't be able to post any new images for a few days. Hopefully, rlb2 will show up and dump a dozen or so into this thread .

In the meantime, here's an interesting comparison of Oppy's dust magnets from Sol 3 and Sol 350 (L3, L5 & L6 filters):

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. swampcat, thanks for your images, they are perfectly accessible.
This is a shrinked-to-100k panorama from NavCam images in the plains, with crater "Argo" posing.
As mentioned in the M&L Oppy thread, the full image (1 MB) can be found here.

I feel better than James Brown.

I’m back.

I took some badly needed time off. It’s only fitting that you host this new segment. The first one I started
soon after spirit landed back over a year ago. The big crash took all our images we posted, hundreds
of them, and shredded them to bits. The Chemist started the second segment, now it’s your turn.

1P159965203ESF4L5M1

Ron Bennett

Hey, rlb2, it's good to see you back. Hope you enjoyed the break. I was beginning to wonder if you were ok.

As far as hosting this thread is concerned -- it was just a matter of timing. I happened to have some images ready and when I went to post them I found out the thread had been locked.

Anyway, here's a new one from Spirit, Sol 386 (I think) (L3, L5 & L6 filters):

Full-size image (1024x1024, 400kb)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical.
