<i>I have seen some of these images from Mars Express and have wondered what would cause the green coloring? </i><br /><br />It was uncalibrated color image processing. The ESA guys have expressed already that they know this and you can get retouched images that show truer color.

These images I posted here are from ESA main web site. If they are raw images then why are they posting them on the main site without first screening them? The only thing I did was sharpened and lightened the image a bit to bring out more detail.<br /><br />Here is one of my favorites in Valles Marineris. I first posted that image right <br />before the big SPC crash.
