November, tvland is going to start broadcasting; hope it sticks because it would be healthy for humanity; can't believe the sci-fi channel stopped showing it;

TOS has been playing early morning on Saturdays on G4.

I watched 'Spock's Brain' this am.

"Dammit Jim, I'm a brain surgeon - not a mechanic !"

Yes it did. If you're not a Star Trek fan you'll probably not notice the difference. If you are, then You'll notice it.

KXVO-15 Omaha shows the remastered ST:TOS at 7pm Saturdays.

They are the CW affiliate for this area.

Last Saturday's episode was the one with Kirk chasing the cloaked Romulan warbird (with a powerful new implosion weapon) through the neutral zone. (Balance of Terror, I believe)

Cool episode. The photon torpedoes (in this episode referred to mysteriously as phasers) look good in the new CGI footage. The Romulan implosion weapon, IMHO, looked better with the original 'analog' effects. The Enterprise itself looks 'smoother' to my eye. Just slightly different.

IIRC, exterior starfields no longer look like the starfields we see on the bridge view screen. (subtle complaint, I will watch this week and see if it is that noticable)

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

I saw the first remastered TOS last weekend. I was hoping that they would show it uncut. Alas, they cut the heck out of it. Some of the edits were quite jarring. I was extremely disappointed. If they wanted to turn Star Trek into something Gene Roddenberry would have created if he could, then they should have put the original show on INTACT.

"Devil in the Dark" aired last weekend. Not so many space scenes. But they did enhance the mine interior -- the original was just a painted interior. This one looked more real, and they zoomed in and you could see someone walking in there.

Now here's some nits about the episode:

1) Did you notice that all the miner's outfits were always absolutely clean? Can you imagine coming out of a coal mine and having no coal dust on you? Come on!!!
2) What's with Ed Appel's pink jumpsuit? Everyone else had a uniform color.
3) Are any of the miners going to be prosecuted for assaulting the Enterprise security team?
4) Just how incompetent are the Enterprise security guys anyway? "Hey, look over there" is the oldest trick in the book.
5) Why didn't the Horta just destroy the pump? Why keep the part around?
6) Why didn't Scotty just give them a new power supply instead of trying to fix the old one?
7) Why did they keep leaving guards alone? And what did they expect them to do, anyway?
8) What kind of idiot do you have to be to go after that monster with a club when a phaser wouldn't work? And what happened to their phasers anyway? They had phasers before Enterprise showed up, then they didn't have them at the end. Huh?
9) Kirk and Spock dispatch scouting parties to go hunt for the creature. Then Spock whips out his tricorder which has been retuned to hunt for it. And of course, he finds it. Don't you think perhaps he should have shared this information with the search parties? And if Spock is so smart, why not just send him down there alone and not risk the lives of all those other men?

Lots of good nits there.
Regarding the overall look of the episodes, they seem to be much "brighter" like they really punched up the color (Chroma). Almost too much I would say.

Came on at 3AM here in the NYC market (auuurgh) but had to watch to see if I remembered the "I'm a Doctor, not a Bricklayer" line correctly. I had not.

Finally I can go back to bed once it's over...but the TBS started SPaceballs at 4AM, so the whole night was shot, because I can not resist Mel Brooks movies.

See below

But the Krell forgot one thing John. How about:

"Perhaps you'll be taking that back, Laddie!"

followed by:

"...and he called the Enterprise a GARBAGE SCOW!!!"

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

Just saw Episode 23 'The Gamesters'. I know we've had a few threads about SciFi girls, but Shana was quite impressive.

Oh, well.
Maybe Spock wanted to let Kirk get into trouble so Spock could bail him out of it and get a commendation. No--wait--no, that's illogical.
